Theres an issue with shutting your blinds at night in the winter when its really cold. The humid air gets trapped behind there and creates ice crystals on the glass. So you need to leave them open some so air movement can prevent that. Unless you have your humidity well under 20%, which is an issue in itself

The best way for Canadians to save money on energy costs is to move out of Canada.

We work every day to install high insulation in our perimeter walls, under our floors and in our attic. We saved up for triple pane windows by installing thin film plastic on all our windows. Hang a heavy blanket over all cold doors leading outside. We don't turn on our fossil gas heater anymore...we prefer to heat with renewably powered electricity.
