I just convinced my husband to buy ME an electric kettle for HIS birthday. We love hot drinks and have been pondering the value of an electric kettle for a little while now. Glad to know it's a lot faster than on the stove. Thanks for sharing all these great suggestions.

My home was built in 1948. Not sure why but my gas range and refrigerator are right next to each other, and without a full kitchen remodel, there isn't anything I can do about it. I use my airfryer all the time now, so I feel like that helps.

Hope and Larry!! I am blown away.

At the beginning of the month I set a generous grocery budget of £120 per week for my family. (£540.00 for March). This is pretty normal for us, but can go over easily if we aren’t paying attention so I always feel smug. 😏

Then for a couple of weeks I watched some of your grocery haul videos and thought, next month I am going to slash that!’

Last Wednesday my husband had a dentist appointment and was told he needs a crown ASAP—which costs £320 here in the UK.

I decided to challenge myself and see if I could take that money out of the grocery budget…. Well at the minute, after a discount grocery haul on Friday, I still need 500g of minced beef and a bit of fresh fruit next week but I think I’m going to come in under our new £220 budget!!! I am so pleased!!

So I don’t have to take the money for the dentist out of savings, thank you so much for your inspiration!

Something that saved our bacon during power outages: my husband and I each have phones from different carriers. When bad weather hits, you can’t tell which provider is going to be hit the hardest. Because of this decision, my husband was able to do critical work during the last extended power outage.

I do a great many of the suggestions you stated on lowering my energy bill, but the one I, also, recently learned was the dry towel hack. Wow, I was pleasantly surprised how quickly my load dried. I don't use my drier very often but shortening the time I have to use it made a great deal of difference on my electric bill. I do keep a diary when I use my heavy using electric appliance like the electric oven and drier. I would add that your dry towel should not shed because no one wants little towel lent on dark materials. Spending time getting them removed is a real pain---take my word for that. The towel hack should not be used on delicate fabrics because the towel is too harsh on the delicate fabrics. Love the program!

I made a Thermo cooker by myself. I just use a Wooden box, filled it with two old blankets and an old bath towel.
We germans call this "kochkiste" cookingbox.
Germans used this in WWII.
Works great.
Blessings from Bavaria
( I have the same lightbulbs, to charge with solar or a powerstation)

Good evening - yes to the electric tea kettle. My daughter bought it, I was reluctant, now I use it all the time. These tips will really help, I have been following Hope and Larry (and sometimes family) for a few years and have implemented all these tips and we have significantly cut our electric bill.

Edit to add, in colder climates I find it essential to have two coverings on each window. For example a blind and a thick curtain. Take the curtains to about an inch or two outside of the window and above and below the window to cut the cold. In the summer months close those curtains during the afternoon sun to keep your rooms cool.

I do not use a clothes dryer. Line dry everything. It actually saves so much in our electric bill- it also “saves” the fabric from wearing out. It preserves and keeps clothes super nice.

I'm using the woodgas stove for heating water. Using a stove top whistle kettle 2 ltr. If I want it fast I'll use my spray bottle of dumpster dove hand sanitizer. After the BigV they tossed cases. It's ideal for fuel. I kept warm in my place when On Grid. Strangelycar I ran heat just before sleeping. Car ZZZ you better keep windows cracked or moisture will freeze you. Heated seats rule.

After your review of the OUPES power station, I purchased the 1800w with solar panels. I have to say that I'm not impressed. I like the Jackery much better. My next one will probably be the Bluetti or Ecoflow. They are pricey, but everyone I know who own one of these loves them.

We get our dryer vent cleaned annually. If I use the dryer, it can cut down drying time by at least 30%.

We have solar lights near the entrances to the house and on the shed. When the kids come home late they have plenty of light to see and unlock the door. No more electric porch lights on all night. I use my small solar bank to charge my phone and other items. And per Larry's suggestion we use the smart power strips.

I have been trying to save money by not using my clothes dryer much, but we have to do better in other areas to really see a difference. I have been using some of the suggestions, but not all of them. I need to do better when using my oven and fill it up. One tip I thought of was to soak beans a few hours or overnight before cooking them. The other video you mentioned was not on your screen. Love the ideas!

Yes, would appreciate a video on thermal cooking, maybe compare to crockpot, especially the wattage differences.

I have been considering buying an electric kettle. Glad to hear you mention this! I looked at your link and bought a similar but different model. Thank you! something that I do in the winter when I know the heat is on is, I place a bowl or two of water around my small apartment. This puts moisture back in the air.
