So I decided to try my computer against the Dawntrail Benchmark that was recently updated and it was crazy! My computer was struggle bussing the whole time but my score was....

To put it simply in an as spoiler free possible way, Dawntrail takes place in the FFXIV version of South America.

If you want the 100% full 'stache experience you can export your charactger experience by right clicking on the character name on the login screen then selecting save appearance data then you can export that into the benchmark.

It'll be interesting to see how much the older parts of the game will be effected by the graphics glowup. They've told us that some old NPCs with custom character models have not been updated, but any NPCS that use standard character creator parts will be automatically updated throughout the game. I assume all the scions are updated, and hopefully other major characters are too, but who knows. Similarly, not every texture in the old parts of the game will be updated, but common textures will be, and all the grassy areas are improved. For the new dual dye channel feature, they've said they concentrated on updating the most popular cosmetic pieces for 2 dyes, so a lot of old dungeon gear is probably still going to support only one dye channel. They keep referring to this as the "first" graphical update to the game, so hopefully that means they intend to go back and fix more old areas later.

Honestly one of the things I might do once I finish Dawntrail is go through New Game+ just to see all the old areas and characters with their shiny new graphics.

Fun fact, that's a Legacy Chocobo, because Canon WoL (derplander/meteor survivor) is from 1.0, and 1.0 players kept their 1.0 chocobos in the form of a Legacy Chobobo (its wearing Garlean armor, has a meteor survivor tattoo, and burnt feathers). Ergo...canon WoL gets one too.

Anything over around 6k-8k will run pretty smooth @1080, 12k should have decent overhead for the streaming load.

All the NPC that used character creation assets will have the graphical update treatment as well. So mostly characters from ARR will be updated. I'm looking forward to seeing them again but in proper upgrade.

I love seeing everyone's benchmark pictures and videos. I think you missed out on benchmark 1.0 where the shadows were....kinda rough. My character struggled with it, looks wise. I knew it was the lighting but it was still hard not to be disheartened anyway. But she looks SO much better now.

I know I'll HAVE to upgrade to a new gamer laptop by the time 8.0 is announced.

Isn't the graphics update applied to the entire game, old expansions included? So you should still notice these changes even if you're not at the latest expansion, right?

If you are worried about stuttering while streaming, look into the Intel Arc a310 ECO. Simply mount it on a slot under your main GPU and use it as a dedicated streaming encoder. It cost about $100 and requires no additional power plug.

When I finished end walker (pre patch stuff) I made a new character to go back through the story since I forgot so much stuff. Kinda became my main character now and currently in shadowbringers. Since I won’t be ready for Dawntrail upon release I might switch from RDM to Viper for Endwalker. It looks really fun.

Lol, I ran the benchmark for one of my alts, and due to the lack of headgear, I was jokingly yelling "WHERE ARE YOUR GLASSES, YOUNG LADY! YOU KNOW YOU'RE HALF-BLIND WITHOUT THEM NOW!"

Just a thing I noticed. You can go into the settings of the benchmark and switch from FSR to DLSS, I gained nearly 3000 points with the switch. You have a 3060 so your GPU supports it.

Looks like I'll be good at least when I build my pc. I'm just hoping I'll be done around DT release. I cannot wait to finally have smooth fps and no lagging!
