Yesterday, I took my 2010 Escape to AutoZone. They pulled a code that said there was an issue with the throttle body. I just replaced it with one made by Duralast, which cost about $140. That cured three things! 1) Poor and inconsistent throttle response, especially at low speeds, 2) jerky and unpredictable shifting, 3) gas mileage! It gained over 3 average MPG, according to the on board display. It really made the difference.

FYI, 2013-2016 may use the same part, but it is in a different location, and much harder to get at. It would he helpful to have a different video for those years.

Just finished, thanks to your video. Cost me $145 CAD for the part and gasket from local Ford dealership. Spent another $70 for a torque wrench from Canadian Tire. Took me about 15-20 minutes to complete the job. Thanks a million 👍

I watched this to learn what was required (by the dealer to perform a recalibration). That was done four years ago - gratis - under a recall. Thank you, Ford/Mercury. Now I am preparing to replace the throttle body and its integral throttle body sensor due to a "wrench" lamp that illuminated and its code said that 7000+ previous equivalent codes were resolved by replacing the throttle body (and gasket). So, as I prepared to replace this, I am inquiring what did the dealership do to "recalibrate" the 2010 Mercury Mariner AWD 3.0L V6 engine four years ago under a recall? I am confident that the replacement part (already ordered at a local NAPA parts store) should not required additional attention after the initial installation by me versus a tech with a diagnostics computer at a local dealership.

I have 2016 Ford Escape 2.5l I have code P2111 should I replace the whole throttle body or just clean it would fix the issue ?
Note : my car run fine and super smooth but I have just this code and the throttle body also start to smell like gas .

Be sure to reset the KAM - Keep alive memory after the throttle body replacement also.

So there is no re-learn procedure post-installation? It just adapts to new throttle body position over a few runs?

I have a 2008 Ford Escape XLT 4wd and the wrench light has popped up I’ve had the oil changed it still pops up even though the place I bought it from said it is just a oil change indicator I’ve been dealing with it for about 2 months nothing to abnormal just skips the second gear and the engine gives a little bit of a shake, I’ve bought a code reader and it won’t pull up the code. Is this the same case? Do i need to just clean the throttle body?

You did not have to do the relearning process after the reinstall?

You needed to purge the can before you move the car. The computer is running on info of a failed throttle body.
