I didn't know that the Oxford comma had it's own name. I've always used it (I'm not a native English speaker) as I thought it was common practice to avoid ambiguity. Thank you for the fun explanation!

It just always made intuitive sense to me! So surprising is it to say how many texts don't use the Oxford comma.

German doesn't have the "oxford comma" and it still works. Along the way we somewhere ditched almost all the commas before "and"

I just heard John Dean mention this comma on CNN. The lady in the video's first comments about despicable people was the same as John Deans comments, and about the necessity for the argument for and against said Oxford Comma. Mind blown!

If you need it sometimes, you need it all the time. Rules need to be consistent, otherwise they're meaningless. And this one isn't meaningless, because results have shows its necessity in conveying information, especially instructional information, with forthright clarity, competence, and eloquence.

Companies have lost money due to employees misinterpreting instructions due to the lack of Oxford commas. Can't blame the employees. It's not their job to second-guess instructions.

While omitting the Oxford comma leaves it unclear whether the last two things listed are more closely related than the things before them, adding them just reads wrong.

She would be right except for conjunctions are intended to replace any adjacent punctuation.

You can write "He ordered a sandwich, a glass of milk, and a pickle" or "He ordered a sandwich, a glass of milk and a pickle." Both sentences, with and without the Oxford comma, mean the same thing.
