Based on what I discussed here, I highly recommend "Essentialism" by Greg McKeown, "7 habits of highly successful people" by Stephen Covey (especially the habit "begin with the end in mind" as I mentioned in the video) and also "Principles" by Ray Dalio.

I really like this a lot. It's refreshing to see a kinda slow-pace video that has redeemable lesson at the end. Love this new you. Keep up the grind!

For me it's about knowing what to simplify, and what not to. I have simplified my wardrobe. I'll only own one bike, one guitar, I want my house to be simple enough to not need constant cleaning or maintaining, I want no debt.

But socially I want my life to have lots of different connections, consume lots of different creative media, create broadly and diversely, and be as generous as I can afford.

Your personality on this platform and especially on social media at all is UNIQUE. I truly appreciate your effort, determination to push everything forward. On the other hand, I feel bad for you. Through videos you share your insecurities, deep thoughts which are not always possitive. Therefore you are not only source of entertainment but although of great, proper thoughts. Well, yeah, and that's the reason why you're unique and why I'm so thankful for you.

Love ya <3

I drove him out there and back!

Although I was just the driver, I still dream big and identify with this message. On the one hand I would love to return to a metropolis like Los Angeles, but on the other hand live in a cabin in the woods. Of course that is possible now with remote work, but I agree with the sentiment that moving country to country to work remotely would be lonely. I think it can be balanced. Good message and it's the same conclusion I came to independently (mostly? independently) and one that I think about often.

The older I get the more I realize happiness is mostly about community. Look around at all the happy people. They have great friends, family, children and their careers have meaning to other people and they are recognized for that. They say above a certain income - it's probably $120, 000 or so today, money does not buy happiness.

PS that longhorn chewed off my license plate border!

great video, really enjoyed. you are definitely right about an adventurous and difficult life, but maybe for a week or longer, all we need is just be in somewhere like this place and spend time alone. kind of reseting our brains.

Hey Leon,
I really love your channel and the videos where you share what you do to gather your thoughts and looking for the bigger picture (like the journaling one) are really amazing.
I want to thank you for what your doing to the community that, remember, is here to support you too.

Pleasure isn't happiness. The problem is that nowadays everyone is constantly being overstimulated online. Even after work their brains don't get a break.
It's in contrast to what makes us happy. If we live a long term dopamine detoxed life (not the full-on dopamine detox that you see on youtube, but a sustainable long-term one where you avoid social media and overstimulation), then any activity that you do will give you short term pleasure, resulting in long term happiness, because your threshold for happiness and pleasure is much lower

Leon you're doing great, and this is the way we all live our life, explore, experiment and ask questions ❤❤

Great video Leon and great job Andrew. This felt very honest, authentic and vulnerable and it feels like you are involving the viewers in your search for your truth and it was very nice. I also reflect a lot on these topics and have been struggling with the same ideas, one part is ambitious and wants to achieve, the other thinks it is a waste of moments of presence and obstacles to happiness. I think that maybe the answer is accepting that we’ll never get there. I think it’s called the arrival fallacy. The idea that there exists a point in time where “you’re finally there” and it’s perfect and you’ll live happily forever. But I think the truth might be that it doesn’t exist, and maybe we could look at that as a good thing, because it forces us to experience different things. Maybe what we seek is not a way of living, not a lifestyle but inner peace and self compassion, a kind mentor to ourselves. I wish that you enjoy this journey you’re on, and would like to say that it is very admirable what you are doing and have done. Good job!

All the points that you mention in your video are definitely important, but the baby donkey definitely helped me keep watching
