This supernatural terrifier is based on his 1971 novel of the same name.

Especially scary is the nurse assisting the doctor. His name is Paul Bateson and he was a serial killer in real life. He murdered and dismembered 18 gay men and was the inspiration for the movie, “Cruising” directed by none other than William Friedkin.

This movie terrorized me as a child and now fascinates me as an adult. I listen to the audiobook read by Blatty all the time to fall asleep. Hands down, my favorite movie of all time. Everything about the story and how they made it into the movie is just incredible.

To me the scariest scene in the move is when during the exorcism the demon finally decided to break free from its restraing straps. Had i been one of the priests I would been like oh he'll no here's some holy water and a Bible do your own damn exorcism I'm outa here. I would have left a cross too but if you've seen the movie you saw how that worked out.😂😂😂

Man, he performed an EJ (external jugular) on a child with no anesthetic. I mean, it’s a film, so of course he performed it completely WRONG, but if this procedure truly happened to her, that’s unfortunate. 😢

for me, the scariest scene was and always will be the “f*ck jesus” scene and especially when she turns her head at the end of the scene, that entire scene has haunted me since i first saw it and it still gives me nightmares over the rest of the movie. It was the only scene i remembered from the first time i saw it at 13
