That killer piano from Super Mario 64 sent chills up my spine as a child.

Dang retro horror games are scary in a twisted way

I have two, both from ultrakill:

0-S - Something Wicked. Ultrakill isn’t supposed to be a horror game, so when most people got to 0-S and and picked up the blue skull and heard it’s… whistle of death most people would shit themselves

second 7-3 - No Sound, No Memory. It’s super dark, barely lit up by V1’s built in flashlight. And you’re surrounded by trees, made from the souls of people who commited suicide. At least that’s what I think they are.

One ofCyberpunk phantom liberty’s endings is horrifying and makes you feel so damn insignificant

Nosk from hollow knight in my opinion does it better. When it's introduced it doesn't put right in your face, just standing right below you before running away. There is no close up which makes it seem more mysterious and it's transformation is much scarier, snapping its neck and turning into a giant weird spider thing.

I love fusion because of saxaphone (SA-X) works, it genuinely triggers that old, unused part of your brain that recognizes predators, which is (at least in my opinion/philosophy of horror) the scariest thing a monster can do, prey upon your insticts

The “fun is infinite” Sonic easter egg is genuinely unsettling. How did they get that into a kids game?

I was born in 1995. The late 90s and early 2000s had some stuff in games that were absolutely terrifying for a kid. I remember being really scared of the monsters in the haunted house levels in Gex 64.

The SA-X was and still is the reason why i will never complete a Fusion playthrough, im 18 now so yeah its still terrifying af, i dislike the "chase", section or the "you need to haul ass samus or you gonna get unalived" how i always called them cuz all you COULD do was just to run, if you tried fighting you would been slapped across the face and get picked back up again lol

IK this isn’t a scene but a thing that scared me as a child was when I played PVZ Garden Warfare 2 and I would love fighting Gargantuar because he is so fun to fight but the only thing is that when he first sees you he instantly charges to you and since he is a big boy he is able to skip a few steps so he is literally charging at you at like 3 miles per second
