I love how people needed this video to realize Redheads are mutants.

As I was receiving anesthesia, I overheard my 2 surgeons, both of whom were redheads like me, discussing how redheads not only need more anesthesia but also tend to bleed more. Later, my primary surgeon was shocked that I recalled the conversation.

They don’t “feel more pain” They’re just less susceptible to opioids and painkillers

I'm a strawberry blonde/redhead, and I can tell you, when I go to the dentist, it normally takes several injections to numb my lower jaw. 😮😢😢
I HATE going to the dentist!

This is true! I actually got scared when I was put under for wisdom teeth removal. I decided I’d try to fight it to see how long I’d last, and when I realized I actually could I panicked and stopped fighting it. Woke up feeling like I’d had the most peaceful sleep of my life

My mom was a redhead and she told me 50 or so years ago pain meds didn't work for but she didn't know why. She said her doctor thought she was faking pain when she broke her leg.

It is true. We also have a higher tolerance for pain. I think its because we have to adapt to no one believing that we can still feel after being given pain relievers. 😊

We have a resistance to Opioids, Articaine, and Epinephrine. We don't feel more pain, I don't even get novocaine when I go to the dentist I don't like to be numb and it takes twice as much to numb me.

As a red head, we dont feel more pain. I would actually say we have more tolerance to pain and anesthesia wears off too quickly, or is not as effective without more than double the necessary dose. At least with my experiences in surgery and dental work.

There is a huge downside to this, they treat us like an addict since we are still complaining about pain and needing more medicine to alleviate the pain. It's caused me to get a few dirty looks that's for sure!!

I'm not a red head but carry the gene and this is true! Got my chin stitched at 4 and could feel the whole thing cause the lidocaine didn't work

I’m not a red head but I come from a long line of them, and some of my siblings are red heads along with my dad. One time I had to get a tooth removed and they gave me THIRTEEN numbing shots. It still hurt like hell

My ex is a redhead and I've never met any man who could take so much pain. One night he was throwing up and in so much pain. By morning he passed 2 kidney stones. He refused to go to the hospital and just took the pain. He's the first man i knew who passed stones without going to the emergency room!

I hate how my dentist pretend that she can start drilling me 1 sec after injecting

As a redhead, I can assure you that I have a higher pain tolerance than most.

Red head here... Ive woken and sat up mid-surgery, ive birthed 10 children (2 at home, and last one induced) needing minimal pain relief, I've broken bones and just assumed a sprain /pulled muscle, if i mention I'm in pain then usually its something that needs to be genuinely concerned about 😂 I find our pain threshold is higher and it takes more of a drug to have the same effect as someone else. Definitely redhead mutant ftw!!
