SO THIS IS WHY.
I’m Iranian, blackest hair in the world but my beard has red hairs and I have red head genes from my dad’s side.
The dentist ran out of novacane needles and had to get more from the other surgical room.
I think at one point he thought I was faking it, so he asked if I can feel it but didn’t touch, and I said I don’t think anything touched my gum. He had such a sad but curious “oh” then got two more needles.
Don’t assume based on hair colour!

that’s happened to me before. i’m a natural redhead but my roots are a little dark so the dentist always thinks it’s not natural

My last extraction they used the max dose and I felt the whole thing 20 mins into it but tooth was half out so I gripped the chair and just said do it!! No way I was going back again another day to finish it and he didn't get it on the first two tugs and omg I'd rather push out another baby drug free then go through that ever again soooo painful

Thank you for pointing this out. I have to tell the dentist and most don't know what it means. I have had four times the regular stuff to pull a tooth last one midway through he needed more.

I wonder if this goes for people that have family that are redheads. My father was a redhead and my sister, but I'm not. I have dark hair. When I was a kid, doctors could never apply the right amount of anesthesia because I kept coming out of it during a procedure (I had a lot of injuries and a couple surgeries when I was a little).

My dentist gets so irritated with me 😂 it's never one shot and sometimes it's 2, but also sometimes it's 3 😂

As a redhead I understand this. It's actually written in my records that I need at least double the amount of freezing lol

I have a Neurological Disorder and I black out when I'm given shots anywhere above my shoulders... We had to do a few 🤦🏻‍♀️

I annoyed my dentist with this last year. They never believe you when you say you arent numb though

I am so hard to numb, and burn through it. From a family with red heads. But don’t have the red hair.

Really?! All my dentists said i was exaggerating and i couldnt feel hat they were doing. I have a fear of the dentist ( because of the pain i feel) and they just said im scared and that im numbed enough. Even though i can always feel everything.

I have EDS and they have to renumb me like every half hour. It’s the worst

Ginger kid here & YES! It takes forever to get numb and then it wears off super fast🥴 I also have fibromyalgia which makes going to the dentist horrible for me

I always tell the dentist up front now! Love my auburn hair but its very tricky with dental work

Dude… the amount of injections I need is insane… and yet a good portion of my drs as well as my mom and I swear I have a fairly high pain tolerance… and yet… 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m sure severe dental anxiety doesn’t help 😂 but I’m not imagining it…

I had 18 teeth pulled with 4 abscess. No antibiotics. The dentist said I gave me three times more than the normal dose and I can still feel everything I hurt for four days the second I got in the parking lot i puked because of all the infection coming up from the abscessed teeth. Oh and I am a redhead LOL.😅😂

Omg so I have redhead and I was getting my tonsils removed and they put me under anesthesia and I woke up in the middle of it!!! They needed to put more
