Sooo right on. in 2019 and at the age of 71, I started training in BJJ. At 74, I am learning like I returned to elementary school. So very rewarding even though I get smashed all the time. Well worth the pain. “There are winners and learners, not losers, ” was an expression one of the Gracie brothers once stated.

I've been nearly 10 years learning stoicism and studying philosophy in general and it's done wonders for my mental health and personal happiness. The most important thing that I've learned is to accept the world as it is and not as I would like it to be.

It took me many years to realize this wasn't obvious to everyone because my parents were intense life-long readers and learners. My mom could often be found with a book and journal on her lap.

I love to learn new things! It’s crucial for brain health as well. Learning can also help mitigate the negative effects of stress & trauma

And it has been an ongoing process. I’ve taken this attitude to my job, and as a result I’m familiar and constantly learning with like 4-5 different processes. Assembly, oil processing, final assembly, testing, and maintenance.

One other thing people can take a lot from, I was once told, “don’t ever feel like you’re above doing any kind of work.” It doesn’t matter how simple or how beneath you something may seem, there is always a learning opportunity.
