China is hosting its third Belt and Road summit this week, marking the 10th anniversary of its iconic Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Worldwide leaders and representatives from over 100 countries are gathering in Beijing, including Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Chinese President Xi Jinping lauded the "political mutual trust" between Russia and China in talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese state media reported Wednesday, with Xi adding that ties between the countries were "continuously deepening."

Putin's trip this week to Beijing for the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) forum is the Russian president's first visit to a major global power since his invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, and comes as China and Russia seek to join hands in presenting what they consider to be an alternative global order.

The director of pan-africanism today Akende Membe said this if you look at the Western and the imperialist countries they come with their own interests. The vice president of the U$ came to Zambia landed at a chinese-built airport in Zambia moved on a chinese-built road in Zambia.
It's it's ironic that Kamala Harris will travel to Zambia and tell zambians stop trusting the Chinese and having a relationship with them when everything that she has used in Zambia the Chinese basically helped build.

Its appeal and success have been fully demonstrated, with leaders from more than 130 countries and more than 30 international organizations going to Beijing. It is obvious that people need cooperation and development more than sanctions and war.❤❤❤

Before BRI, the trading between China and European was about 800 billion dollars, and transport of goods were mainly based on seafreight of 40~48 days.

The Trans Euroasia Railway link has shorten the time to 18~20 days. Which is good for both China and Europe. You can search the number of German cars exported to China via the route, its amazing.

Furthermore, the Railway link was not only benefiting China, but all these land locked countries in Cental Asia and Eastern Europe, they can exchange goods and trade which wasn‘t possible before. Mongolians can export to Hungaria, Uzbiekstan can export to China. Its a win-win situation for all.

And to put cherry on the top, the Railway link has been extented to South East Asia and Middle East, Turkey can export to Vietnam, Thailand can export to Belarus.

The entire Euroasia continents have an alternative mode of transport. How wonderful is that.

If North and South Korea, and Japan willing to join in. The cargo can go all the way from Tokyo to London, or maybe Tokyo to Egypt one day.

The West can never compete with what China does in terms of infrastructure development due to Western economic model and development approach to the global South. The West focus always has been on soft stuff: water supply, health, education, democracy, human rights, training...which are not very tangible (visible) while China builds roads, airports, bridges... things developing countries really need. Of course these investments do not come without costs/debts but what else can the South do if they need infrastructures esp. if the West cannot offer?? So why jealous towards China? Does the West want to keep the global South where they have been and are?

The BRI is not a gimmick, it's not a short term project, it's China's version of the future world, a shared future for human kind. It will take generations to complete but it generate benefits each year.

Don't ask about the future if you cannot see the future. The future is for those who see it.

China just wants to link the world together to do trade and trade exchanges, the development of a country depends on its own national governance system, and China just provides a platform

The answers from Jakob Gunter are to the point, well informed and credible and therefore well informing the viewers. DW could have him more often, instead of having ideological name calling, to better inform the public on topics of development and international relationships.
