The Times spends a day with Olympic hopeful Georgie Brayshaw as she prepares for Paris 2024.

This is a story about pain, the joy of it and how it can inspire. It involves disaster, triumph, a horse and nine days in a coma. From being paralysed to Paris, Georgie Brayshaw has already won. “You know if you’re in pain you’re giving your absolute all,” says the world champion rower in her bouncy Yorkshire accent. “That’s what you want out of this sport. You want to give part of your soul.”

A really great profile video. The GB W4x is fantastic, them and the WLtw2x are my two favourite GB crews at the moment. Wish them all the best for Paris 2024. I will be nervous as hell but will be screaming at the TV nonetheless.

The common thread for rowers seems to be "Be Rich, Be Tall"

Out of curiosity, Georgie you mentioned finishing uni, so you do that many outings and erg sessions etc next to working? Wonder how you manage that. I’m a rower and had that schedule in uni, but don’t think I’d be able to do it now next to working. Thanks.
