The biggest role of the dice in any decision you make in whatever chosen career is the decision to go all in

Whenever I think of an athlete’s lifestyle, I’m reminded of people like Michael Jordan and Kobe. Their total psychosis of victory, their NEED to not only win, but destroy their enemies, is something not many have, or ever will have.

It is either the UFC or a 9-5 job. I will work as hard as I can to become a UFC Champion.

The biggest gamble is skill... I started basketball when I was 5 or 6 (I wasn't going to school yet) and I gave all I got to the basketball for years I played in a real match for the first time when I was around 8 years old and everyone in the team was literally 3 years older than me (in that age thats a huge diffrence.). After playing with diffrent teams for years because of my age that year finally came I was gonna be able to play with my own ages. The team gathered up and I was a fuckin beast I was better than everyone cause of my experience and I keep working like a pro athlete anyway cause my father was raising me like one. But every single year my teammates started getting closer to me when I was in the last year of middle school I wasnt a star anymore I was just a regular player who has 8-9 years of experince in 14 years old. My father started noticing that and made me study my lessons harder but ony thing I know was basketball, only thing I want was basketball. After few years (16 years old) I was one of the worst players in my tea, all of that hard work meant nothing to me cause I just didnt have the skills. I quit professional basketball in 16 and tried to focus on my school but at that point I was 10 years behind and couldnt just become a good student. I wasnt borned to be one... Now I'm 18 and I m stuying for the univercity exams second time and still playing basketball in the streets cause thats all I know...

Im hoping to be a pro armwrestler one day (in my opinion it is a type of combat sport) and I've got this exact problem. Only 2 of my friends believe in me, and everyone else says i can't do it. But I've pretty much dedicated as much of my life as I can to training (im in highschool so I also have my grades and social life to worry about) But I've made very good progress, and am getting ready for my counties national competition 💪

Ironically America is the worst place to be a pro fighter. Sponsorship deals with big American companies are almost nonexistent, and the American public at large disdains MMA. Foreign fighters who reach the top make a LOT more money than their American counterparts.

For the younger guys here, just know that having dreams and ambition is good but centering your whole life around one thing is never worth it. You might think this is the good choice right now but you have high chances of becoming insecure in so many other areas of your life. This usually doesn't hit until the damages are done so stay aware of that guys, you can become good without sacrificing everything else if you show patience.

It is not like that. You quickly know if you are good enough.

If you are smart you quit and you do a real work. And you just be an amateur athlete. Without all the negatives of "pro".

Unless you become champion the pay isnt worth it. 12, 000/12, 000 2-3x a year is less than a skilled craftsman makes.
