Correction: The video incorrectly states the number of crew member applicants a year. Emirates receives approximately 144,000 applicants a year. The video incorrectly states that only veteran and first class attendants get to staff events. Any level Cabin Crew can staff events, not just limited to first class or veteran crew. Insider regrets the errors.

Emirates Airline has over 20,000 flight attendants in their cabin crew. We spoke with Siti Nurazlin to see what it's like to be a first-class flight attendant for the luxury airline.

It is a great job for many but viewers must keep in mind that this segment was filtered through Emirates’ PR team so you only get the polished version of what it’s like to be an FA for Emirates

I was staying in a hotel in Dusseldorf about ten years ago. Just doing a little vacation time, and splurged on a VERY nice hotel near the airport. I got to see the Emirates stewardesses leaving their rooms while I was heading down for breakfast. They were SO put together it made me feel like a slob just sharing an elevator with them.

"$32, 000 a year"
That's not a lot...
"Free housing in Dubai. Accommodations and meals covered."
I take back what I said.

My cousin is a flight attendant for Emirates, she's been doing it for a number of years now. It is very challenging but she has many amazing memories and experiences through this job.

I flew business class on Emirates from Thailand to Hong Kong it was an amazing experience. My steward was a guy. He asked what I wanted to eat I told him I had already had dinner then he asked if I was interested dessert and I said sure he brought the tray and everything looked so delicious I didn't know which one pick he said why don't I leave the tray with you and you can sample each one.😁💃🏾He was awesome!!! The whole crew was from all around the world I really liked that. I will fly Emirates again and again.

Southwest flight attendants always remember my preferences as well. They always provide me with free life jacket, a beautiful brown bag for my tears, and the latest edition of sky mall magazine

Respect them flight attendants
They can deliver babies
Under go the pressure of dealing with a Karen
Puts a smile on their face and is extremely polite
And just being nice to them makes their day better!
You’ll never know what they go through lol
They might die on the flight bc of a crash thou...
BUT OVERALL RESPECT THEM
(EDIT)
that was me a year ago I’ve changed 😂i still haven’t met any rude flight attendants even tho I travel through air a lot even during covid🧍🏻‍♀️

"A height of 5'2"

Me (with height of 5): Well, guess I wasn't born to work as a flight attendant

I had a roommate once who was hired by Emirates, she was really tall beautiful and smart. Getting hired wasn't easy for her because she had to compete, she had to have straight A's for her grades, she had to struggle maintaining her figure and keep her make up on fleek. I witnessed her crying at night because her stomach hurts from not eating, or crying while studying. She also had to learn numerous languages every year. We cheered when we found out that she'd been asked to do interviews for a shitton of airline companies and all her efforts made it all worth it.
I hope she's doing fine rn

The one free flight a year seems a bit stingy to me.

one of my mom's close friend was a flight attendant for emirates. whenever I see her everytime in person, I am always amazed how she always looks beautiful and tall. she is a single mother, separated with her husband who still lives with her daughter so that someone could take care of her. her daughter and her was not close at all because of lack of time together. my mom's close friend retired after more than 10 years of service with emirates. she retired and saved up enough money. she was so stressed and gained a lot of sickness. she also had to get operation for her spinal cord and it went well. now, she is spending most of her time with her daughter and got back with his ex husband.

This was one of my dream jobs and I was close to applying, but after flying a few times on my own vacations, I found out that I get severely sick after flights. It makes me so sad

When I trained to become an SAS cabin crew, one of my fellow crew students went to work for Emirates before applying for SAS. All the students and the instructors were super curious what it was like working as crew for Emirates. He said it seems so glamorous at first but in the end you are just their slave and the system is so bureaucratic. As crew you are not even allowed guests past 9pm. So he quit after 6 month and moved back to Copenhagen. I think he is a pilot today.
