This is the first time in a while I've watched this scene, and It hit hard in the emotions. After seeing the last season of Picard, and what was essentially its own passing of the torch, I appreciate these interactions so much more.

I love the moment where Chekov watches Demora assume her post at the helm and he says "I was never that young." and Captain Kirk says "no, you were younger." and put his hand on the back of Chekov's neck and they don't talk for a bit. I could tell that Chekov was thinking about himself when he was that age and was the helmsman for the original Enterprise and probably feeling a bit sad, but he didn't want to spoil the christening with tears.

I am not a ST fan. Never was. But THIS is how you do a passing the torch moment. No stupid jokes, no irony and not an overload of Easter eggs. Simply memorable scenes with some heart and meaning within a well constructed story that makes sense and is worthy of being told on screen.

I remember watching this at the cinema and peoples were cheering the name of the TNG cast appearing on the screen. The very first ST movie with the TNG crew, it was BIG.

Watched this on the really big screen when it was released, the cinematography and special effects in this movie are excellent.

Instead of Discovery or Strange New Worlds, they should have made a series of the adventures of the Enterprise B. It's a beautiful ship and we see way too little of this era whose aesthetic I just love. Beginning with the color scheme of the computers to one of the best uniforms ever seen in Star Trek (I cannot decide between them and the grey uniforms).
