On my build I decided to forgo the Z51 package. Since I will not be tracking the car it makes sense to put the money elsewhere. Like GT2 seats & carbon fiber interior. Mag ride, and front end lift.I will also add the front splitter & low spoiler. To HTC C8.

I live in Florida. Florida, Texas & Arizona are Africa Hot. The extra cooling components are worth having if you live in the southern states. A No Brainer if you ask Me. I had a GT350R that would run far hotter in the Florida summer than in the North Carolina Mountains in summer time. Just my 2 cents

Agreed, that is kind of what I did, My intensions is a drivercar..notatrackcar. Did a LT2 with performance exhaust and added the high wing spoiler and used that extra saved cash to splurged on the new amplify orange paint color.. no great need for special breaks or suspension for a daily driver. It is a driver.. and that is one of the best things about the C8, your can daily it and have good cargo space and low maintenance cost is you outfit it correctly. It is a probably the most usable mid engine sports car for daily life.

Yeah! I think there’s so many options for the C8 that all look amazing without it being a Z51 package!

My C8 was supposed to be produced last week. I opted out of the Z51 package because it will be my day driver. I added the performance exhaust, front lift, low spoiler and splitter. Better money spent.

I opted for the Z51 package on my 2021. I would have preferred the low spoiler, but was not offered, I may try to change it out. The main issues for me was the HD cooling system, brakes and eLSD that were included. On my trip home from Bowling Green I visited Pikes Peak and noted that the cooling temp made it to 210°F following a line of slow traffic. The base model would likely been fine, but the earlier models have been known to have cooling issues and the mid-engine configuration can't help the thermal heat rejection issue.
Regardless of the details, the C8 is beautiful to look at and a delight to drive!

You should mention the benefit of getting the all season tires and standard brakes going without Z51 package, this gets rid of the brake dust issues and most people will enjoy the benefits of all season tires with better wear. If you don’t track your car on regular basis which is vast majority of people you clearly don’t need the z51 package, and my regret the issues that come with this option.

Good arguments. Did I get the Z51package on my 2021 HTC? Yes. Will I ever use the additional capability offered by Z51? Doubtful - in normal, even spirited street diving you only use a small fraction of the base car's capabilities. Even when I was driving the car as fast and as hard as I could on a racetrack the instructor told me I was not even close to the full capability of the car (okay so maybe I suck at racing). GM marketing is very good at enticing us with performance that we'll never use but will still buy.

I've been saying this from the start but every magazine and reviewer on YouTube tells people it's a must have option so most are going with it even though they will never use it. You here all the talk about brakes, handling, cooling, etc. Outside of a track none of this matters and how many C8 buyers have the driving skills to take advantage of the extra handling ability much less that of the base car. The base car does not need mag ride but you really do need it with Z51 so now up to $8200 and with the chin spoiler better add the front lift so up to $10k+. Unless you have bad roads or driveway entry problems, front lift is not needed. You can get a 3LT, performance exhaust, upgraded wheels and black side skirts for $78K or $ $71K for LT2. Add $7500 for an HTC and you top out at $86K yet than is now the average selling price!

I had a 2020 C8 coupe 2LT Z51. Now have a 2023 HTC.1LT. With performance exhaust, low rear spoiler and red calipers. Almost the same MSRP. No tracking just street car. Can’t tell the difference except the rear window down the exhaust sounds much louder then the coupe. Both cars have identical engine radiators because they have the same part #. Never over heats in 95 degrees Atlanta weather.

I was required by constraints to get z51 no mag ride but after everything I read I told the dealer I wasn’t happy with that build. They said they’d take the build and I reordered without the z51 but got exhaust, the splitter low spoiler, mag ride and front lift and my car was only $35 dollars more. Much happier with this set up. Now I have the all season tires that are a better driver friendly tire, smoother ride and a better travel car which is what I bought it for.

You are on the money. I won't be tracking the C8, so I will order without it but will use the money to add front left because of my driveway and mag ride. I can also get an after market Z51 carbon fiber spoiler for $800. But if people feel that Z51 is a must its their choice. Good video.

If you plan on seriously tracking your car the Z51 package is a MUST. HOWEVER, if you are not planning on doing that you are throwing your money away. Cheers!

Not getting the package certainly needs to be considered by prospective buyers. I mean to be able to have the same speed as the Z51 along with your choice of other options for a lower cost is crazy. If you had to chose today would you pick the Z51 package or a combination of other options?

Good explanation, right to the point, and succinct.

address the tires on the z51 pkg. They will not work in the cold correct (not all season tires)? I want all season tires so I can use the car in the winter months also without changing tires.

Can't wait to get my 2022 non z51 htc with mag lift and mag ride. Gonna use the z51 money and get an aftermarket exhaust, upgraded larger rims, and a car wrap for the price of the z51 :) gaurentee my car is gonna look, sound, and perform way better than the z51 cars

I just ordered my c8 as a daily driver. The base non-z51 has all the supercar-like performance out of the box and is no way a slouch. Depending on who does the analysis, the z51 and non-z51 have roughly a 0.3sec difference on the 0-60 and quarter mile times. However, at the top speed, the z51 is slower due to the aero kits (this is mainly psychological and will apply to less than 1% of owners since special locations are needed to even attempt this).

I did not get the z51 package..for a few reasons relevant to me (To each their own):

-I like the high wing better than the z51 wing, so I don't want to pay for two wings and then spend effort trying to sell the z51 wing for much less than I paid for it. The high wing comes prepainted with my desired color carbon flash, so no messing around with paint shops and potential quality issues and significant extra costs to paint.

-I also wanted the quieter 6.2 liter car version since I don't want to advertise my daily driver comings and goings to my neighbors multiple times throughout the day...especially during super early mornings and late nights. Also, I like a different kind of sound.

-I could have gotten the extra 5hp from adding just the exhaust package separately, but as mentioned earlier I wanted the quieter "stealth" version. The 5hp at higher rev end doesn't really come into play for daily driving...and not much performance advantage for a 3000 pound car anyways without other upgrades.

-I am upgrading/adding wheels, roof, graphics, grill guards, tint, and other items instead of spending on the z51 package.

-I don’t believe 99% (if not 100%) will ever get their $6k back from z51 resale, so this theory is more hype than reality. We know how performance mods price in the resale/used market.

For sure Chevy did a great advertising upsell campaign for the z51 package, as it is very popular.

For those that say a c8 without z51 is basically not a corvette, I have also heard a c8 without z06 is also not a corvette. And then there are those that say a z06 is not a corvette, only the ERay.

To each their own. Chevy designed many versions to fit the many viewpoints. Go look for the one that specifically fits your tastes.

Thank you for your time.

My allocation will be here next week, and I plan on driving it 3-6 months due to personal reason. Is there any configuration recommended, to reduce exposure, for resale since I’ll be selling within 6 months after driving it? I can only afford the 1LT so that’s a must. Color choices (exterior and interior), options, etc?

I did not get the Z51 package and did add the performance exhaust to add the extra 5 HP. I will never track my car and do not plan to sell it
