You should also include that you should immediately proceed to the boat deck or main deck once the ship have tilted at around 15 degrees even without instructions from the crew. During the Sewol disaster, countless lives could've been saved if the passengers weren't listening to the captain's orders of staying in their own cabins even though the ship had already tilted at 20 degrees.

My grandpa survived a sinking ship by not being with the crowd in case of an emergency because if you are with a lot of people you can be pushed...

1. Instinct. Leave everything else.
2. Ready with life jacket
3. Ready near the exit
4. Go higher if ferry have multiple level. Go to the higher side if ferry tilted on one side.
5. Be near life boat to get your seat asap
6. Last resort jump to the water if waiting is dangerous
7. After in the water or life boat then get far away from the ferry to avoid the vortex

Also, throw any furniture into the water so u can have something to float onto in case of being stranded in the water!!

Chairs, tables, ANYTHING TO HELP U STAY AFLOAT!! Fill your shirt with bottles full of air to help u float too. Even if u got on a life boat.. that furniture could help others stranded in the water who can’t swim & avoid hypothermia (if it’s cold.) Anything to stay OUT of the water !!

And GET FAR AWAY FROM THE SHIP. It’ll suck u IN with its force once it sinks. And WORK TOGETHER AS A TEAM!!

1. Listen to safety instructions given by cabin crew.
2. Be familiar with all the exits and life jackets
3. Move to the top of the ship even if not told to
4. Don’t jump off the ship until instructed
5. In the lifeboats, collect rainwater to drink. Avoid drinking seawater or urine.
6. Studies has found that positive minded people are more likely to survive such accidents so try to stay positive.

If you ever feel a jolt in a boat take a quick look around you and see if anything seems wrong. Then wait for instruction. If no instruction comes or you are told to stay where you are then wait a little while and if nothing is happening or the boat starts to tilt then put a life vest on and get to the deck. If any rescue team or boat is near then get close to them as in the moment their priority will first be people in the water or on the decks as they can be saved the fastest.

In 2014 on the sewol ferry 300/400 people died and 250 of them were school students. The reason so many died was because the rescue operation stayed only outside the boat and all the passengers were told to stay inside the cabins or corridors. The only people who lived were those who jumped out the boat or moved onto the decks

What is missing is what you do when the ship has tilted, you are for example in the dining room, you slide on the floor towards the wall and are unable to move to the exit door.

My mum sailed on the Costa Concordia twice before it sank, & when she here the news of the sinking she said "She would of survived because she knew the shit inside and out".
