What he says is absolutely true!
Had a friend whose car skidded off the road, flipped and went into a deep drain with water. She was returning from clubbing and was alone in the car, windows up, alone and speeding around 3.00AM..
She only survived because another vehicle way behind her saw her tail lights disappear off the highway in an area he knew there couldn't be a turnoff, stopped and saw the guardrails were smashed..
He got into the water with his flashlight, saw the vehicle upside down, and pulled her out.

Problem is, when your car falls that distance, you probably are concussed, injured or unconscious.

I was watching a video about the billionaire who drowned in a tesla. They said that cars nowadays are being made with a type of plexi-glass that even those hammers will take too long to break. The expert said you've got about 40 seconds before your electronics will fail underwater and you should roll down your windows asap.

Just a tip some (not all) cars have a window smasher on the front seat head rest poles, just pull the head rest all the way out, (not all can) some are shaped to smash windows.

Before. I approach or get on a bridge. I roll down the window before I drive across 🚗 I've seen to many stories of people getting trapped in the car underwater.

I'm sinking.. now where did I put that window breaker that I bought online?

If you have laminated side windows, good luck breaking them

I don't think the water was the problem here rather it was the giant pieces of the bridge smashing into them.

Mythbusters have given us the answer long time ago.
If your car is sinking into the water, open the windows unbuckle your seatbelt and relax (don’t use up your oxygen because you need it later), let the water fill up your car, swim to the surface when it is safe to do so.

FYI that’s Season 4 Episode 4 of Mythbusters watches the last 10 minutes

As a commercial diver, I am actually heading to this site right now to start cutting up this bridge under water and hooking up debris.

Normally, it is unlikely that a bridge would collapse over a large area.

This is why I always have my scuba gear in the trunk.

This guy didn’t tell something very critical. The head rest of the seat is to be pulled out and used as window breaker, hence it’s an attachment in most cars.

I'm old enough to remember when this info was regular curriculum in Drivers Ed (along with hood flying open and accelerator pedal stuck). I guess they don't do it anymore?

I'm more worried about how to escape this sinking economy. A bridge collapse on one of the most busiest ports is not going to help this economy at all. The ship looked like it intentionally drove in to the support. 😮
