No offline feature = no buy. Simple. Thank you for the review

Definitely looking forward to future mmWave upgrades for the EP1, having that flexibility is wonderful. Please keep us posted on any developments around that :)

Could you make a video about how different devices handle pets? Is there a big difference between PIR and mmwave? Can mmwave detect the size of the object? I'm interested in presence detection, but not if my cat would trigger the lights.

Hit the nail on the head. If more manufactures listens to feedback you will flourish as a business

I'm going to seriously consider this once the matter implementation is ready, tested and thoroughly reviewed.
I'm counting on you!

Can confirm PIR inclusion was a very good decision. Makes it easy to detect someone entering the room, then mmwave can take over. My room automation works great by using pir first, also light sensor is brilliant too.

The issue i'm experienciong with this no matter how i position in, or what room i put it in, are the ghosts! Every so often, there will be a ghost that just stays, until i reset. It doesn't seem to be related to any interference sources as the ghosts appear in random positions, like sometimes i'll be walking around, then, i'll split into 2 and have a ghost randomly wander around.

Yes please, an explanation of the FP2 performance, settings and modes would be excellent. This type of tutorial would save many a great amount of time. Thanks!

These MM wave sensors are all pretty cool. What I do not see much in the smart home community videos is automations when you have pets. I assume with 2 cats and 2 dogs that all these automations are pointless. The animals would be triggering automations all the time. Is there anything that can allow you to specify the size of an object via the MM wave sensors? Thanks for all the cool videos!.

I have the same exact behaviour in the bedroom with EP1 going long periods of time without detection and I have been trying to find a way to visualize the data from the mmWave sensor. It looks like the zones feature from FP2 is exactly what I need on EP1 (maybe in a future firmware update?). I have been tweaking parameters for weeks now, without much success, which of course means my placement is sub-optimal but I'm really limited about that. EP1 is a great sensor though, it has shown it's potential when I tested it in other situations and I wouldn't change it for any other sensor, including the FP2! Keep up the good work and the honesty when reviewing!

Just got one, along with a wall switch and a camera e1, and they are working great. Loving aqara so far. Soon I'll be getting into home assistant to add more functionality.

Great video!

Really good honest review and always appreciate your transparency. I was excited for the FP1 but stock issues and the need to import stopped me from getting any. Having taken delivery of 2 EP1's this week, I am very happy with them and haven't seen anything in any of the FP2 reviews I have seen that would make me think they are worth the money. I'd much rather get more EP1's and the potential to upgrade the mmwave sensors makes them a far better purchase for me. Keep up the good work on the videos and the EP1's!

That whole zone thing following you around the room is so cool... That would be excellent for the EP1 and Home Assistant :D

Sold out almost immediately on Amazon (if it was ever in stock at all) but the communication with an external server is a killer for me.

Looking forward to the future videos and am interested I Aqaras response to if they intend FP2 to work only locally, without an internet connection, something I look for in every device.

Regarding the lux sensor, one of the first customizations I made to the EP1 is setting a 5-second update interval for illuminance. It's sometimes helpful to have that as close to real-time as possible for automations, so it's great to see Aqara has speedy updates.

Almost fell from the couch laughing, short bursts of energetic movements indeed.
Love my EP1ˋs.. they are great. Now, if esphome where to support motion zones, that would be a big win.

Hi Lewis. Two questions
Does it work through glass? Like for instance the glass on the bathroom shower?
And @ 7:56 which lights are u using? Is it Aqara? Or does it work with other brands? And If so, how do u configure them... In the Aqara App or like in google home app. Or maybe HA?

Thanks

Working without an internet link is an obvious must for so many, including myself.
