Preach it, sister. I hope Stossel has her on again.

What one man receives without working for, another man must work for without receiving.

Collectivism rewards marginalism, laziness, weak character and irresponsible behavior and punishes earners, producers, innovators and achievers. Way to set the bar as low as possible.
And we wonder why the USA has slipped so far down the socio-economic scale over the last several decades.

Good point. We've more than likely passed the tipping point of no return.

Exactly! That's what happen when there are too many barriers to entry and too many regulations.

My friend remember the whole passage. It said "But nothing is impossible with God" also where not talking about wheather rich people should or should not give away all there wealth, but wheather or weather not the government forces them to.

Absolutely. But that was only my rock-solid conclusion after nearly 30 years as a government social worker.

That part at the end was the best for me. Private charities can tell who needs help and who is just a lazy taker....the government just treats everyone like they need help.

Another great point why the private sector does a better job.

[[What percentage of a population can feed at the public trough before that society collapes?]]

Ask the Roman Empire...oh wait, it collapsed from welfare dependency, excessive taxation & rife spending on public programs.

I used to be plagued with this leftist mental disease. I'm so happy that I was treated.

@sendtoanthony that is just wrong. Liberty leads to equality... liberty and coercion are mutually exclusive. Forced equality (socialism) and liberty are mutually exclusive, perhaps that was your point...

Which one are you?

"The Right... want big government"?? Smaller government is exactly what the right wants. Well, some of us, anyway. Your point about the military, notwithstanding, which is why I support Ron Paul.

That comes out to 7 million Americans supporting the other 300 million. Astounding!

This is the problem I have when I try to explain this to people.
"You want to tax the rich lower? They don't need lower taxes--they need to give more to us!"
They give more to us by investing their money which gives to the private sector which allows more employment and could even translate to better wages.
"But they're rich! What does it matter?"

This country has gone to far down, and as I see the only way is a complete overhaul of the system. Problem is, everyone is "comfortable" the way it is. And they/we are being made to except it. This country and the planet are doomed imo. Just watching what the people of this nation did since inception to now is amazing. But somewhere along the line something went horribly wrong. In short we are boned.

Yes the rich have the power of wealth, education, charisma, intellect, or skill, and this will never change and has never changed. That is NO REASON to try to rig the game against them.

By trying to, you in fact do the opposite. By making the game to favor one person or group over another and not treat people fairly, opens the option to artfully accumulate that favor and avoid penalty. Children use this on teachers & parents all the time. And who do you think will succeed at that the most?
