The Greens' New Target

Green governments are cracking down on chemical fertilizer.

The result? Hunger.

--------
--------

In Sri Lanka people rioted when the country slipped into extreme poverty.

Why did it happen?

Here’s one big reason: the government banned chemical fertilizer.

Environmental activists say nitrogen fertilizers shouldn’t be used, and Sri Lanka’s president listened.

As a result, farms produced much less food, and food prices have risen 80%.

Have the “green” activists learned from this? No.

They continue to push for a chemical free world.

“It’s out of control” says environmentalist Michael Shellenberger, “completely unnecessary.”

In the video above, he explains how this green dogma would lead to mass starvation.

I couldn’t help but notice that the people pushing these insane energy policies don’t have to suffer the consequences of their policies. They continue to own multiple big homes, fleets of cars, yacht(s) and fly in private jets. Their lives are not interfered with at all. It’s only the little people that have their lives destroyed.

Weird how we keep seeing story after story about places forcing green 'initiatives' and suddenly having problems

I love it when they show 100% clean steam coming out of a Nuclear Plant Steam Turbine exhaust like it's a bad thing, that is when I saw the "green" movement as total BS, show the acid rain from Lithium mines.

As a native Sri Lankan, I thank you for posting this video and raising awareness of our situation. Please learn from us. Don't listen to those delusional leftists and their so-called "Green Dogma".

It’s sad and tiresome to see people starving and angry not knowing the reasons for their problems are the exact measures they are told to support.

California is the perfect example of "green energy" they want to replace gasoline powered vehicles by electric vehicles and now they say don't charge your electric vehicle...
Because power plants are overloaded🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️

And they don’t want cattle farming either.

Not to mention environmentalist are trying to get rid of cattle farming so there goes that manure as well.
I am actually an organic farmer and can tell you these environmentalist are insane if they think the world can go fully organic. If you are an organic farmer your number 1 supplier of nitrogen is composted manure and blood meal. Our number one supplier of phosphorus is bone meal. The only way could scale that globally would be a massive uptick in animal harvesting to get the blood and bone needed but they are trying to do away with meat processing. Their ideas are entirely inconsistent with each other.

I admit I haven't followed Sri Lanka's collapse all that closely, but this is the first I've heard it was caused by a fertilizer ban. Thanks John for getting these stories out there, you are doing very important work.

Those who know much about agriculture become farmers. Those who know nothing about agriculture become environmentalist purists. Farmers in Netherlands and elsewhere, we are with you. -- A retired farmer.

He nailed it at the end when he said the modern technology like fertilizer makes everyone’s life better. Precisely the reason they’re doing away with it.

Frankly, I am sick and tired of being lectured at by these morally inferior privileged elitists. Joe Biden, John Kerry, AOC, Gretta....the list goes on and on.

I read it in other video's comment section:
"Green" actually means "The pollution is somewhere else."

It is funny how the ones making these decisions are city dwellers, not farmers who know nature personally and know how to work with her rules.

John has always been the guy getting to the heart of the issues. If his leanings were left, he would be a rock star among the left; but, because he lands on the side of real facts, reason, and ethics, he hasn't been demonized, but nearly forgotten.

What makes me angry is the rich and powerful keep going on and on about needing to go green and save the earth while they live in massive mansions that cost a fortune to heat and cool and they use their private jets like cars, none of them are interested in giving anything up to save the planet they expect all the poor to do without so they can still live like kings

I grew up in a farming town and went to school with a lot of farmer's kids and I learned a couple things about agriculture most people in the world don't seem to know. 1) Farmers need EVERY advantage they can get in order to have a decent harvest. Before modern insecticides, fungicides, weed killers, fertilizers, irrigation systems, drought resistant seeds, and many many many other agricultural innovations there was always a great risk of a farmers pulling in next to nothicome harvest time. 2) Farming is very much a skilled trade. It requires generations of knowledge and immense commitment. Farmers know what they're doing, they have to otherwise they won't be successful. Knowing these two things I know enough that I should leave decisions on farming in the hands of the farmers.

"For most of our history humans lived in harmony with nature"
Yes, for most of our history humans also died of a simple cold or starved to death because a single parasite got to a field. But it's all the bad, evil chemicals.

The one thing I had not heard before about the Dutch farmers' protest was that they had already reduced nitrogen pollution by 70%. That was an eye opener and explained why this new reduction policy is unsustainable. If you hadn't already figured out that those in power want you to be poor, dark, cold and hungry--and then just die off--you should be able to figure it out now.
