Episode 1 echoes is now out and to many this is a time to see what it’s all about, but to those who played seasons and were sick of the format, this was a chance for Bungie to really try something new. So.. in this video I wanted to talk about what differences there really have been and what episodes are really trying to do to simply decide if they’re worth your time. You guys know I’m the guy with the witch queen opinion that it did more damage as a year than help the game, so I probably have found a way to dislike episodes right? Well you would be sort of right and also wrong. I think episode 1 has done more for me on a first impression than most seasons. If you think back to the Black Armory, the first season to stand alone vs forsaken, it had a lot to punch up on and a lot to do to keep everyone interested after the main buffet.. In the first week it offered the forges with controversy due to levels required to complete it, two weapons in hammerhead and tartaras gaze, and a raid with scourge of the past. Now.. we just had a raid in salvation edge and I don’t expect a new raid just a week after, but I will say that episode 1 right now does feel like black armory in every other way down to the TEE! But see even saying that isn’t fair to echoes because Black armory was not technically the first seasonal content drop. Season of the outlaw was and that season was so tied to Forsakens drop that you’d be thinking it was just apart of forsaken. Echoes.. Well.. echoes this sentiment. The episode is so tied to the success of the Final Shape that on its own it wouldn’t be a strong content drop to hold players, but the quality of the content that has been released is about on par or better than a typical season. In fact it’s closer to Black Armory in that way than Outlaw was.

I think that maybe releasing the whole act’s quest at once without the weekly wait would be better. People are gonna complain either about the time-gating or lack of content in the quest but making a change is better than keeping what we already have.

The battle pass still has the name season pass in the menu. That's all you need to know. Nothing really changed so far. It's also a little worse because we just came from the coil a phenomenal activity to whatever botany class this is.

Funny that the entire layout for the Echoes secret mission is the exact same as the Expunge mission from Season of the Splicer...

I think this is an interesting topic to cover. As a day 1 Destiny 1 veteran, owning every expansion, DLC, Season and Episode, with several thousands of hours played and thousands of dollars spent on Destiny 1 and Destiny 2, I haven’t played episode Echoes since launch day. I have attempted to force myself to ( I mean, I did pay for it), but I can’t get myself to even open the launch screen anymore. Trying to see if I can get drunk enough tonight to actually play it.

After the finale mission, I have zero urge to continue playing destiny 2. I did dual destiny and that’s it.

I didn’t purchase an annual pass this time around so I don’t feel obligated to complete the season pass.

Maybe I’ll come back if the next episode delivers some substantial content but if it’s in any way similar to this episode then that isn’t going to happen.

I am a slow burn player. It takes me a while to get through content. I am still working on getting stuff in the Pale Heart (and having so much fun fighting the Dread in that location) that I have no interest in doing the new activity or going to Nessus and only do what I absolutely need to do to progress the weekly story. Otherwise, you can find me wandering the Pale Heart.

I just wish they'd put the lore in the game. The cards are fascinating. However, you don't see it maybe too early, but I'd like to see the vex acting weird. I wanna see the vex factions fight, but so far, same as usual.

Enigma protocol is a previous season played in reverse, like the weapons are from previous seasons.

Honestly I kinda like the fact it's split into 3 parts now. It means you're not playing the same seasonal activity for months straight, at least I hope we get different seasonal activities each act..
