A perfect marriage or relationship is an illusion; there's no universal playbook for making them work. What's effective for one couple may not apply to another. Nevertheless, I've come to understand that there's always a solution to be found. Half a decade ago, my wife and I faced such trials in our marriage that divorce seemed inevitable. Yet, through perseverance and determination, we navigated through the rough waters and emerged stronger, reunited, and more resilient.

The only thing to do it to stop communicating with them period. If they want to text go ahead but I'll never text them first! I have to turn the tables on this type of non-since!

The silent treatment is their favorite tactic!

He preferred texts but insisted that phone calls were okay. Nope. His phone was always on vibrate & he did text promptly & at most anytime. I found out he is married, adult children, a home - all of which he denied. I blocked him. No contact. It was a very short situationship but I'm still stunned by it. A year later...

I've seen it.

I lived it.

My narcissist still wants me to live through it.

Omg! His texting is something! He sends essays full of the same rubbish. How everything is my fault and how everyone knows that he is the good one. It’s just exhausting

I would be really careful about blanket statementing #1. As a DV survivor that's now coparenting, even when we were together he would ONLY call because there couldn't be a record of what was said, unlike text, and he didn't want a record. It was controlling on purpose and the complete opposite of a narcissist not wanting to call. I even was sitting here for a minute thinking "wait, am I the problem?" And I really am not. The courts even require us to ONLY use text in a court approved app and no phone calls for this reason.

I've seen it! They don't have the ability to listen or to care about what's being said to them

Thank you. Only response is reclaim your own balance. Not chasing that person and not drooling when they finally do call 2 weeks later with the dumbest excuses. Just laugh or better yet, block. Move on to real friend group, real support. Not baloney no show bla bla like you would keep these losers in your life, LET ALONE! depend on them for anything! This means YOU must get strong, not codependent on such a person, family or not. Yes we can! 🤝🫂✨ Thank you Rebecca, Slay! ✨

It's very normal to prefer texts, especially people who are socially akward. Furthermore, texts give receipts when dealing with narcissists. My ex preferred to call, and record, to try to use anything against me. Didn't work for him.
Neurodivergents also interrupt. We literally don't mean to do it. It's hard.

Yes, I agree .People don't call very much anymore .That is because they will give emotions and tone in a simple phone call.Texting is ok with a call here and there. That is one of their tactics. Then when you confront them, they will show emotions. Thank you, Rebecca ❤❤❤

It's easier to keep multiple partners straight through text than phone call

Initiating a second outting. Then breadcrumbing. Then ghosting after canceling said date.

Word for word it's like you have been looking over my shoulder. I can't believe that I was up against a narcissist I never did know it couldn't even recognize it until now

My husband is an idiot. What makes him mad is when he opens mouth and inserts his OWN foot and gets caught now that's MY fault too. WTF

Hello Rebecca,
My dad was a grandiose narcissist. He learned to use mobile phones after his seventies, so he needed to improve his text messaging skills, which he had never tried. Instead of text messaging, he was calling. He was ringing my phone, and I was answering his call. As he heard my voice without saying a salutation or wishing me a good morning, he told me what he wanted done and hung out without waiting for my answer. Another weird thing is that he couldn't reach me instantly after his initial call. He was continuing to call. I remember him calling me 25 times in a 15 timeframe. He was trying to call my wife and children if I was still unreachable by him.
