Here's another great option for a flush mount lighting options for your kitchen ceiling.

There are a lot of flush mount lights on the market but I like these because the install easily, have a clean look and give out a great amount of light. These are a great DIY light as they are easy to install and simply twist on once they are wired up. They are great for a kitchen remodel where you have existing lights.
Be sure to consult and electrician if you unsure about electrical work.

This light is installed onto a junction box which is the major difference between this and the wafer lights.

What are LEDs and how do they work?
LED stands for light emitting diode. LED lighting products produce light up to 90% more efficiently than incandescent light bulbs. How do they work? Instead, they experience ‘lumen depreciation’, wherein the brightness of the LED dims slowly over time. Unlike incandescent bulbs, LED “lifetime” is established on a prediction of when the light output decreases by 30 percent.
