Pre-NCFD demo of a vintage SMC 42" hugger ceiling fan.

This ceiling fan was made by Shell Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (SMC) of Hong Kong in around 1990. Their hugger ceiling fans were known as the 'Royal Flush' series. This version has the newer stamped steel motor and tightweave cane blades. White finish with polished brass blade arms. This fan was new old stock, came with the manual but no box. Very cool fan!

A quiet or silent SMC is so rare! I owned one. It was newer, I think 95’? 52” and normal cane. It was quiet as could be. Even without bearing noise, SMC’s usually hummed a lot. I had a dozen in my collecting days, all noisy besides that one odd-ball.
This one is stunning! My favorite pull-chord, too. White, tight-weave cane is incredible.
I grew up in New Jersey, and between Home Depot and K-Mart, cool SMC’s were everywhere.
I don’t collect anymore, just have my permanent installs in my Texas house.
