You can do this. I swear. In 10 minutes you'll understand the basics of circular breathing (though you will still have to practice a lot to get good at it!). And, you will be well on your way to being able to do it on your clarinet/sax/flute/didgeridoo

Dang, so THAT'S where I've been going wrong all these years - I was doing TRIANGULAR breathing! No wonder I nearly died of asphyxiation.

I dont play an air instrument, but I'm going to learn this just so that I can blow bubbles indefinitely

Finally! Thank you for solving a mystery that’s haunted me ever since my middle school beginning band instructor happened to mention circular breathing- and then never explained. As a drummer, it intrigued me but was never something I needed to learn. Thirty years later, I can finally sleep well at night. Bless you.

When I was practicing circular breathing, my cousin asked me what I was doing. So I told him that I am practicing circular breathing and he got interested. I showed him this video and he accomplished it in 2 hours... RIP

Circular breathing is not difficult, but I think it's easier to learn when you are a kid. I've never had a hard time teaching this to a 12 year old. Adults are a different story because their muscle memory is a lot more set, their habits are a lot more ingrained. I learned when I was 12 or 13 and now, over 50 years later, it is still a part of my playing. I think that it should be considered part of the fundamentals of playing. It is valuable in embouchure development, breath control and is musically useful in phrasing. Good video! (I'm a trumpet player, btw)

I'm a percussionist and circular breathing is the most interesting concept of wind instruments to me. I don't know why but it's just so cool that that's possible...

for a good 14 years I had thought that breathing in while you breathe out was impossible but apparently it's common practice for brass and woodwind players

Imma walk into the band room after summer and say „wanna see something cool?“ and continue to trill for 10 minutes straight

It's INSANE how much harder it is for the brain to process when you aren't buzzing your lips compared when you are. It must be an absolute joy to be able to control dynamics while doing this!
