Top 5 Ohio Dog Beaches

Показать описание
Hello, here's the Top 5 Ohio Dog Beaches, that we've found so far!
The dogs love these little lakes and rivers, and of course the big one, Lake Erie.
Here's a complete list of all the OH Dog beaches we've been too:
East Harbor dog beach
Kelleys Island Pebble Beach
Harrison Lake Dog Beach
Delaware Dog Beach
Nickel Plate
Lakefront Park
Scheefe East Point Nature Preserve
South Bass Island State Park
Indian Lake Dog Beach
Johnson's Island Public Beach
West Bay Beach
Did you like any of these beaches better than the 5 on our list?
The dogs had a great time hanging out on beaches, swimming, sunbathing, etc. Fifi loves people watching and seeing all the other dogs. Beo likes swimming.
My litte husky girl has swam, but she usually doesn't like going deeper than her knees.
The dogs love Lake Erie! and all the fun we have around Lake Erie. Being near the Great Lakes is a huge advantage for us. I have looked into camping elsewhere, in other states further away but it's so hard to find dog friendly beaches and swim areas.
You may not think of beaches when you think of Ohio, but maybe you should! Did you know Ohio is almost 10% water? It ranks 17th for states with the most percentage of water. Only 3 states in the top 17 are not on an ocean, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Not too bad. With Lake Erie to the north, and the long Ohio River to the south, with hundreds of connecting waterways inbetween, OH is a great place to find a beach to hang out on.
In Ohio, and Michigan, just about every state park is on a body of water. But, it's not like that in neighboring Indiana, or Pennsylvania. Indiana does barely touch Lake Michigan, and there's supposedly some gorgeous views but overall Indiana is one of the states that has very low overall water percentage. Indiana surprising matches some of the dry states out west for water percentage.
What else I like about this area is we have 4 distinct seasons. I know, lots of places do but lots of places don't. There are parts of the US that don't really have a real long fall or winter like we get here in the North. We have hot humid summers, vivid fall foliage that lasts, drastically cold winters with snow, and then comes the spring awakening with all the beautiful flowers.
I know Ohio doesn't sound the greatest place to visit, but we're als not usually overcrowded. You can find a decent restaurant to have dinner on a Friday night without having to make reservations weeks in advance, and almost everywhere we've found allows dogs on patios.
Maybe I should just make an Ohio tourism video? lol.
