And you might want to test them on the panel. A while ago did a tiny board that was panelised 100-up, and I put interconnect tracks on the breakout tabs so all boards on the panel could be powered up at once to test.
Needless to say the PCB house queried the tracks on the breakout tabs...!

The LEDs are specifically designed "upside down" and output through a drill hole in the PCB. I've used them in the past... the Avago "reverse mount series".

I have a part time job at a package delivery company in Austria and we often get packages meant for Australia.
Both countries also have a 4 number postal code...

I just read your interview in Circuit Cellar April 2012 today actually between classes. Awesome stuff!

Yeah it is a bit of a pain, but they just look cool on the panel, and I wanted to show the snap-off.

Dave,
I am glad that you advised me to write to Energy Micro- we both got free kits :)
I have been playing with the kit and have been quite impressed. I normally work with MSP430 and Atmega so doing anything ARM is a bit of a learning curve.

Just wanted to say thanks and keep up the great videos !!

Side note:

So satisfying seeing you use an actual pocket knife to open your mail rather than your keys or scissors or a pen like the other 90% of youtube users.

Keep doing what your doing!

The same way all the banks can send you pre-filled credit card application forms, just sign here. They actually used to have different wording making it sound like it was a bill from your current registrar. They got slapped on the wrist for that, and now they have to print "this is NOT a bill" on the form.

I know someone who ended up getting one of those cards sent to them. Someone picked it out of his mail box registered it and maxed it out and he never even knew it existed until collections agencies started contacting him.

Low volume.
Go price out the parts yourself, and amortise the costs over XXX units. Then factor in 40% markup for the retailer, and work out how much I need to sell it at wholesale in order to make more than minimum wage for my time.

You should have stuck a battery in that devboard - most boards come programmed with demo software that does something vaguely interesting!

Also it's easier to store and pack panels than individual ones.

Cool vid Dave. I did notice that you commended Energy Micro for the static shielded bag and then proceded to remove it from the bag without wearing your ESP strap! I know, every one is a critic, and I feel bad for mentioning it ;-)

It is a standard breadboard. The thing's just designed for non-standard breadboards. :)

I don't live in Vernon CT but I work there and only live about 20 minutes away. Had no clue Elektor had staff there.

Good to know I'm not the only one who HATES those sleazy domain renewal scams. Even switched registrars to one that does "domain privacy" so I don't have to deal with them any more.

"Tie Me Kangaroo Down" was a hit in the USA too, back in the 60's I think. So us older Yanks know that song.

Vernon, CT is 60 miles to my west an I'm in Providence, RI. Vernon is to the east of Hartford, CT.

Note to self: When shipping to Dave with lots of bubble wrap - wrap it around a sausage.

@EEVblog the quote on the board "Trapped in time, surrounded by evil, low on gas" is a tagline from the last of 3 movies in the evil dead series, the movie is called Army of darknes from 1992.. hmm guess i know more about horror movies than electronic stuff but i start to get the hang a few basic things thanks to you
