For those wondering. A few crew members survived the explosion but not the fall

Fun fact: carol spinney, the puppeteer of big bird from Sesame Street. Was supposed to be in the rocket as well. They couldn't fit the big bird costume in the shuttle. Which saved carols life

I did a project about this. The engineers warned them to not carry on with this flight but they still did. A woman named Christa McCaullife was on the way to be the first teacher to go to space until the spaceship exploded. Rip to the 7 crew members

The engineers warned them not to launch. They did anyways. Whoever approved and authorized the launch knew the risks and sent them anyways. Bad move.

For those who were wondering, the mission was STS-51-L

There was a scientist who worked on the spacecraft that told NASA many times during the building of the shuttle that it wasn't safe. He even told his daughter not to watch it because something will happen.

NASA let it continue even though he warned them.

What's worse is that a lot of people warned the NASA managers that this would happen but they didn't listen.

That Teacher On Board Was My Dads Teacher In ‘85. He was devastated Because That Was His Favorite Teacher. To this day, My Dad Joined Her Up In Heaven. RIPMy Dad and 7 Onboard in ‘86. AMEN.

Fun fact? Big Bird could have died on there. There was a plan to send the original Big Bird costume on there to go to space. It was ultimatley canceled, saving Big Bird.

For the ones who don’t know, this was the challenger mission in 1986. During the night, the o ring was torn by the cold temperature and blew up the tank. It contained the first teacher to go to space and 6 other astronauts.

Fun fact: the school teacher that was in the space shuttle were originally supposed to be the big bird from sesame streets

What’s terrible is the fuselage or “cockpit” carrying the astronauts didn’t explode. Instead they lived until it hit the water. And possibly a couple lived for a short time after that as well.
