my mom was in one of the crew members daughters class. They were in 5th grade class watching it live on TV. Then it happened. It exploded. She felt and still feels so bad for the daughter and the 7 lives lost. I can’t believe this could’ve been avoided too.

I was 9 years old and stayed home from school that day. I walked outside to watch the launch and saw in real time the shuttle explode. Ran back inside and saw it on TV again. I ran and woke my Mom up to tell her. We both cried about it. I'll never forget.

To think, this disaster was 100% avoidable if they had only listened to the O-ring specialists. Why were there never any charges laid in the 7 deaths that occurred as a result of their negligence?

I was in 5th grade when it happened. We were watching it on T.V. in school. After that happened, everything stopped. I remember watching the build up, the delays, and the fact that a teacher was going up into space. I also remember them advising not to launch that day because of the cold. Sad day indeed.

I was in junior high and I will never forget that. I happened to be out of class (don’t remember how I managed that), but was in library. No one else was really around but the tele was in and I saw it live and froze! I ran screaming back to my class that the shuttle just exploded.

In high school, taking an Algebra test. The teacher next door, who was also my friend's dad, came in and told us. We had lunch the next period and no one spoke above a whisper. Everyone was in shock.
Went home and watched the footage over and over. 😞

I remember this well. It was beautiful, very cold January day at Palm Beach, Fla. I listened radio on Worth Avenue at Christina fashion store. Then i heard from radio that something is wrong..! Horrible tragic accident. RIP all the crew.

I was 5-year-old kindergartener while watching this live. We didn’t understand what just happened until the teacher shut the TV off before she gathered her thoughts on how to explain this to us. RIP to the astronauts.

I was a junior in high school in 1986. My U.S. government class was watching and I'll always remember the looks on the familie's faces that were there watching sitting on the bleachers. Their faces when they realized it had exploded and that their loved one had no chance of surviving the explosion and the force of the impact when it hit the ocean. That is something that will stick with me forever.

I was in the eighth grade. We were watching it live in science class. I remember my science teacher bawling her eyes out. I still remember the lump in my stomach to this day.

I was 26. I came home from work and my future husband was crying. He explained what had happened. So sad.
