Willingly fell to the dark side is not really a good description of what happened to him regarding Palpatine. He became Palpatines apprentice in order to infiltrate his ranks and ruin his plot from the inside, but failed to fight against the dark side and fell. Even though he fell he was still against the emperor and redeemed himself in the end. It's not like he ruined his entire Jedi order with that mistake...

At least Legends Luke was able to keep the Jedi Order alive.

I like the fact that Luke's son is named Ben. It makes more sense rather tan Han and Leia naming their son Ben, knowing that Leia never met the guy and Han did just for a little while, and to Luke Ben Kenobi was one of his mentors in the ways of the force.

Also I have a question, what about Obi-Wan in the last jedi? Luke hates him or what? considering that he blames Obi-Wan for the fall of Anakin to the dark side (which is partially correct)

Eu luke:
-restored Jedi order
-became most powerful being of all time
-fought in countless wars
-helped new republic
-married a hot chick

Disney luke:
-ran away
-died of exhaustion
-Jedi order failed
-gave up on life

I prefer a lot of aspects of Legends. Mostly Jaina and Jacen Solo, as well as Mara Jade. Very sad these characters have been erased.

My main problem with Luke in Canon is how... Passive he was after the Battle of Endor. For someone who always fought hard for the Rebellion, gave Han a lot of crap when he didn't want to do the same, to have him suddenly take a more passive role after the Emperor's defeat, and cut off connections with his sister and best friends, not even reacting all that hard to Han's passing, it's hard to believe it's the same Luke. If he took a more passive and impartial role in politics after the war completely ended, sure, but from what I've seen/heard he just stopped getting actively involved after the Emperor died. Legends wasn't perfect, but he at least resembled Luke.

One thing that I really miss the most in Legends... is Luke and Mara Jade Skywalker (my fav female character from Legends & they're one of my fav couples in Pop Culture) together!!! So Sue me for saying that!!!

When Legends Luke has a problem he fixes it, where as Canon Luke just hides.

Legends told a far richer history than the new Canon has

Even as someone who is not greatly in depth with Legends Luke (though I'm taking steps to change that), I prefer Legends Luke vastly over Canon Luke. If nothing else, I like success stories, and Legends Luke took a lot of crap and yet never gave up who and what he was. In a way, he reminds me a great deal of Rocky. Take a hit and keep getting up.

When Disney bought star wars, I was really hoping that they would take these stories onto the movies.

It's called "Expanded Universe".

"Legends" is what Disney calls it to shove it aside.

Legends Luke is obviously much better than what we got in the new movies.

Legends Luke is a FAR FAR FAR better character than what we got.

If you really look at it, most of the 'new' Star Wars characters are just crappier, very watered down versions of far more interesting and badass EU characters. For example, Kylo Ren is basically just a dollar store version of Darth Ceadus/ Jacen Solo.

I vastly prefer the Legends version of Luke as he created a functioning New Jedi Order and revised the teachings of the Jedi. That is not to say that everything that happened in Legends was perfect, of course. There are certainly stories that weren't that good, or the writers made some mistakes, or Luke was just a tad too powerful - all legitimate complains. But I do feel that Luke's role in Legends was more true to the set-up provided by the original trilogy compared to the sequels of the canon.

While a little op at times Luke was still Luke in legends. He failed at things, some students of his died or fell to the darkside, his wife was murdered by his nephew, and another died in war. He himself fell to the darkside, yet despite all of this he still kept true to who he was. He didn't want to murder someone (especially not his family) bc they had bad thoughts, he would try and redeem them. He wouldn't give up when he failed at something, he'd pick himself up and try and fix it.
