How did Maz Kanata end up getting the Lightsaber?

Does anyone else get a little triggered when it is referred to as “Luke’s Saber” or “Rey’s Saber”? It is definitely “Anakin’s lightsaber” and nobody else’s. Luke’s saber is his green one and hopefully Rey goes and makes her own staff saber or something.

If him retrieving it is not counted. Darth Vader purposely cut off Luke's hand. Which could mean he wanted the Saber to fall. Just like Kylo Ren saying "let the past die".

Ah no and nope. The scrappers of Cloud City were visited by Lando who wanted it back. The hand was thrown out long before Lando came for the light saber. A eventual meeting of Max Kanata and Lando happened and Maz got it back. She was going to give it back to Luke but it never happened after the Battle of Endor.

I have question about lightsabers.
Assuming 99% of Jedi and Sith crafted at least one lightsaber, and "lightsaber collectors" were quite rare, then what happened to lightsabers, after Jedi or Sith died?
Were they destroyed? Stored? Turned into parts for diffrent lightsabers? Shouldn't the Jedi Order during Palpatine's rise to power struggle with millions of lightsabers lying around (assuming, they are not destroyed)?

If vader was redeemed back as anakin and survived and when It was recovered Luke would find it and give it to anakin after redemption
