What some people don't know is that Yubikeys are programmable. You set a long touch to produce up to a 60 digit static password. I use this as part of my password manager's master password, together with a short phrase of my own. Together the master password has two inputs: one that I type, and one I don't. Remember to make backups.

To clarify my question, will one yubikey suffice, or would I need two?

You mentioned banking. Which bank does support yubikey as second factor?

I dig Yubikeys, is the main selling point of the 5C NFC over the 5 NFC the fact that it uses USB-C? I always imagined that it would make the most sense to have the 5 NFC and have the USB-A for authenticating on my desktop and the NFC for authenticating on mobile devices. That being said, definitely hoping for USB-C to become more standard across the board.

So do you recommend having two keys in case you lose one?

The 5C NFC only works on a phone? Or is there a adapter to use on PC or laptop?

Is it possible to buy Yubico yubikey 5 NFC USB-A and get a spare USB-C?

Many reviews do not mention the high failure rate of these Yubi keys, i recommend to see the Amazon reviews. Also they do not mention you need to BUY 2 KEYS
Yes, they force you to set up a backup key so you HAVE TO BUY 2 KEYS. It does not allow you to setup the key without having a 2nd key.

How does this compare to the Google Titan keys?

When you started talking about price I genuinely expected something like this to easily run for 100+, at 55 this is quite literally a nobrainer, that's dirt cheap for the kind of functionality this offers.

I saw a ted talk years ago on NFC hackers. they use a smart phone to code a couple hundred characters into it that can take NFC info from devices they simply WALK past. is a crypto key safe from this attack? Edit: this video was mainly discussing the vulnerability of NFC chips in our credit/debit cards. I assume it can be used for anything that carries an NFC chip in it, with valuable data.

What if someone stole my yubikey? Does it actually verify the authentic user by means of fingerprint?

Hey Hashoshi! One question: what if I lose/break it?! You talked about a backup, but can you login to Yubikey account and deactivate it? I did a little research but can’t get a clear answer. Thanks for all you do, you’re the man!
