A hardware security key is by far the best way to protect all your online accounts. I recently started using the Yubico Yubikey 5C NFC and I'm so glad I don't have to worry about hackers and scammers anymore. In this video, I show you how to use a hardware security key and why you need one. Recommended 💯!

Seriously, stop using SMS (Text Message) verification. 🤨💥 Switch to either an authenticator app or hardware security key. 🙏🏻

Great video Joris. I didn't know anything about those small devices, it's very clever. First time I ever heard of them.

forgot the old saying
"Just because you are not paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get you" and they are.

Very valuable info, Joris!
What I have done is to make my own hardware key.. :)
Well, sort of - I was also worried than an update would either f-up the phone or the Authenticator app - so as it was old - I bought a new phone and left the other to serve just as an authenticator phone. I don't update it - it is never online. I just make sure the batteries are full.
This is off course not the best solution, but if you can't afford a Yubii key or if your website doesn't support Yubi - then you can use this method.

Jonas - a question: I have an all-Apple ecosystem: a 2016 Retina 12” MacBook running Monterey, an 8th Generation iPad running iOS 15, and an iPhone XR on iOS 15. The MacBook needs USB-C. The two iOS devices use Lightning ports. I expect to upgrade to an iPhone 14 this year, which is likely USB-C. Also an Apple Watch 7.

Yubikey has like multiple and confusing (to me) dongle solutions. What Yubikey dongle(s) would you recommend to buy? Thanks.

How do you think it compares to Google's Titan security key?

You are right it is important and big part of of our life is online.
I make most of my income online, even my part time gig doing food delivery depends on online apps, I get my orders online and I get paid online through the app, even my bank is an online one.
Maybe our older relatives and that old tale of stuffing a mattress with money for retirement they might have been ahead of their time. 😆

Different prices on this key. Anywhere from 30 to 140 dollars. Should one invest in expensive one with more protection

Great video. But I wouldn’t walk. I would run far and fast from anything to do with Google. They have proven themselves to be extremely dishonest.

Hey all, I can't get the NFC to work for my 5c NFC. I've tried all settings including yubikey manager and personalization tool (and my Andriod phone settings) all NFC options are ON. If someone has any idea how to get it to work please let me know, thank you

I just had my 95k subscriber youtube channel hacked, I filled out a form, hoping to get it back. I had 2FA on the app and everything, the hacker changed the recovery email and phone number, my one time use 8 digit 2fa recovery codes didn't work either, the hacker regenerated them...so I am watching yubikey videos while I am shopping online for keys
