I also had this question before when I am starting my spiritual journey. I asked my former boss, who is also a pastor; on how will I start my Bible readings. He told me to start with the gospels first with John, then yun next three, Matthew, Luke, and Mark. Then doon ko nakita how great yun buhay ni Jesus Christ. Everyday I am still trying to religiously read atleast one chapter a day pag gising ko or atleast a verse to start up my day. Writing my thoughts about my readings also really helped me to appreciate God’s Word.

Your vlogs always give me a sign. Para bang ito na yun! I’ve been wanting to read bible pero talagang challenge or my nagstostop. Thanks for sharing this, iba if my guidance how to start especially if you grew up in a family na di naturo ang pagbabasa ng bible. My goal is to start slowly so my kid can also learn at a very young age.

Today is November 15, 2023 and I just watched your video sharing your ways on how we can start reading the bible. Thank you Ms. Rica. This video is really helpful sa mga kagaya ko na ngayon pa lang sinisimulan ang journey para mas makilala at mapalapit kay God. I also follow your TikTok account and yung mga questions na sinasagot mo thru videos grabe, sobrang naa-appreciate namin. Important thing that readers should know before reading the bible:
-It consists of different genres and we interpret them either literally, figuratively, symbolically depending on the genre.
-The bible is not about us, it is about Jesus. We are not the David in the Goliath story, rather it demonstrates the power that God can do for us when we abide in Him.
-There is only one interpretation of the bible and it's NOT eisegesis (interpreting text in such a way as to introduce one's own presuppositions, agendas or biases), NOT narcigesis (interpreting Scripture in a highly PERSONAL, even selfish way.), the correct way is through exegesis (critical explanation or interpretation of a text); Who wrote it? Why did he write it? When was it written? To whom was it addressed? Does it apply to us or was it specifically for certain people during a certain period?
-It's okay to not get it the first time

and Thanks to you Ms.Rica! kaya ako nagsimula magbasa ng bible is dahil sa inyo.. that was May 2020.. feel so lost and nde ko rin alam sobrang dame iniisip gulong gulo then napanood ko yung life testimony niyo here sa yt na ewan ko bigla na lang nag appear sa recommended videos ko siguro sinadya ni God yun and parang may nagsasabi skn "panuorin mo toh!" and then nakita ko nalan sarili ko na umiiyak and then after nagpray ako ng sobra. Ewan ko naisip ko nalan bigla, mag install kaya ako ng bible sa fone ko and then thats it. After reading the bible.. i feel so light, i feel so at peace i feel joy na nde ko maexplain (nde naman ako nababaliw.. haha) pro bsta nde ko maexplain yung feeling na sobrang peace and joy and calm.. grabeh and sobrang naapreciate ko na yung worship songs ganun.. eto cguro yung feeling na "I found God" or God found me na.. :) basta Ang SAYA LANG! kaya Thank you talaga ms. rica :)

The 1st book that I was really interested nung bata ako is Revelation. Yung yung unang Bible book na nabasa ko ng buo. And then Proverbs and Ecclesiastes, binasa ko ng paulet ulet. Dun ko narealized na halos pla mga wisdom books ngayon eh nakabased lang din sa Bible. And then I got the time to read all books of New Testament, cover to cover.. about 2-3times. At totoo nga, hindi mo talaga maiintindihan ang Bible unless basahin mo yung buong book. Marami kasi nagbabasa, verse by verse lang talaga. Sa isang verse, pwede magkaroon ng maraming interpretation. The reason kung bakit napakaraming religions ngayon.

Most importantly, we cannot understand the Bible by ourselves only. Before starting to read, you have to pray for the guidance of the HOLY SPRIRIT. It is the Holy Spirit who will teach you the meaning of every verse that you are reading.

For someone like me na really seeking for that close relationship to the Lord good thing I have my boyfriend who leads me read the Bible. I love the 4th requirements "open heart" it is true that even how good your comprehension are if your heart is not open to view, to hear, to adopt and to feel nothimg will be learned. Best practices: Pray and ask God for understanding and revelation each time you read Scripture. Then, Expect Him to speak to you through His Word.

Hi Ms. Rica! I've been reading the Bible for 7 years na. I also use the SOAP method and what I found that helps me better "observe" Scripture is by using a dictionary! ☺ Minsan kasi, alam natin yon meaning ng word, pero pag binasa mo ano yong mismong definition nya (minsan various din kasi), mas maiintindihan mo ang context or mas magspeak sa'yo yong verse. I also use post-its to document learning nuggets. Aaand I also invested in a life-application study Bible! Hope this helps someone in their journey! ❤

Thank you, Rica for sharing! I have to watch this video twice in order to get your recommendations. I've learned a lot from you. Like you, I also love reading the Bible. It helps me see things in the right perspective, and because nakasanayan ko na, I always wake up at 6am or 630AM kasi nga, 630AM is my prayer time.
