CPU at 94°C! Something had to be done! | Installing the Deepcool Gammaxx 200T aftermarket air cooler
Показать описание
As you can see, it did take me a few goes!
The Deepcool Gammaxx 200T is advertised as being able to be mounted without removing the motherboard, and this is true (it's also very secure), but I might have done better if I'd removed the power supply to get a bit more purchase on the clip. Also, because I wanted it in this particular orientation for airflow (it can mount in four different orientations, i.e. up/down/left/right in 90° intervals) it was hard to get the second and final clip to engage because one of the (blue) heatsinks on the motherboard was getting in the way (it wasn't a problem in the final locked position, just made it hard to get in there and angle/position the clip to get it to hook on, as the heatsink was also blocking my view).
Still, it was well worth the effort (it dropped my CPU temperatures by about 20°C!), and it's always better to do things slowly and methodically, rather than rushing and breaking something. If it doesn't feel like it wants to go, stop, reset, and try again, and again! No-one's actually watching (I mean, unless you then film it, and put it on social media...)
