I talked a friend, who does a ton of sand and finish, into purchasing the E model specifically for sanding handrails. I kept seeing his workers destroying bead lines and other details with circular palm sanders. I’ll post back here with results in the near future.

wow! (forehead smack!) use a power sander!?!! I was using a piece of old sandpaper and my fingers!!! Holy Crap!! this changes everything!! 😂

Is there something special about the Surf Prep sander, or would this work using a generic sanding sponge with any electric sheet sander?

From a guy that runs a cabinet shop and has had two bad bearings in two different machines in 4 months, I'd say do not waste your hard earned money on the surfprep.
The uneeda copy is even worse.
I'm also open to ideas on a better quality machine if anyone wants to chime in.
