This torque converter problem aside, the 2.5L Camry with 6 speed automatic transmission are actually some of the most reliable cars ever made. It's why they retain their aftermarket value extremely well.

Thanks for the info, but as far as Toyota Camrys not being reliable….I’d have strongly disagree. These Toyotas are the best and most reliable cars you could possibly get, no one can name any car that doesn’t have issues or recalls

I just bought a 2014 Camry with 119k miles, the guy who sold it to me said it just need tires, I bought 4 brand new Bridgestone tires and the issue is still there, went to the mechanic and he said it’s the wheel bearing and engine mount, changed all of it brand new and problem still there, until I found this video.... I was about to change the axle with the same But thank God I found this video.... so thank you sooo much for this information.... I will go to the local dealer tomorrow and hopefully they will fix it for free.

Just reached 150, 000 miles when my 2014 started shuddering. Cost me $2100 to have my torque converter replaced. Just had it done. If that's all I have to shell out every 150, 000 miles I wouldn't call that unreliable. That's more reasonable than any other mid-sized sedan on the market. Heaven forbid you have a 2010-15 ford fusion. I've worked on plenty!

1:56 Can you elaborate on how I can have this done twice? I am looking at buying one that had it done in 2017 but still has a shudder between these speeds sometimes. The dealer I called told me it was past all the extensions.

If you want a camry get the 3rd and 4th gen camrys that were manufactured in japan. The 4 cylinder ones will last a vary long time, a little slow but vary reliable and easy to work on

Just so you know this info is not accurate. You have 8 years from your date of purchase or 150, 000 miles which ever comes first. It is not good till June. Mine expired in February of this year and the fix costs about $3000.00.

I have the same issue, the dealership in Georgia told me that the coverage expired last year in October, i have only 82k miles on my car, now i have to pay $1800 to fix it, this is outrageous, i called corporate and they said they will not cover the bill, what should we do, class action suit?

Why is the 2012-2017 considered the best Camry to get on google 🤔

I used to own a 2012 Camry 4cyl. Toyota did replace the torque converter at no charge but then the engine started to burn too much oil. I traded it for a Lexus V6.

My 2014 camry is at 70k mile. I'm not sure if I have the issue. But can I sell take it in and get done and no worry bout it?

I ended up adding Seafoam to the gas to clean it. I also use a higher grade of gas. It stopped. Every once in a while I still feel a little tremble.

over time gets worse I been driving mine for years with just changing oil, still shifts I went from 80k to 240k don't underestimate toyota strong 💪🏾I am just now considering buying new car after having it since 2014!!! instead of just shuddering it now make scraping grinding noise when idle and when pressing gas

Wow, that ending is over the top and wrong. 210k miles on my 2012 and it runs like a champ.

My 2013 Camry is currently in the shop for this same issue. It’s still covered under the warranty because I have less than 150, 000 miles. I’ve owned it for almost 5 years and haven’t had any other issues. Hopefully, once the torque converter issue is fixed, I won’t have anymore problems with it.
