It's not everyone's favorite, but if you like canned corned beef, you probably can't get enough of the stuff. And if you don't like it? Maybe you just haven't ever tried the right kind. While canned corned beef originally was created out of necessity as a kosher substitute for Spam to feed soldiers, it quickly became a pantry staple in the U.S., as well as in countries like Jamaica and the Philippines.

Something that popular has to be pretty good, but some brands most assuredly stand out from the pack, for both good and bad. These are canned corned beef brands, ranked from worst to best.

You missed out the brand PaLM. That is the best it actually has chunks of beef in the can. Its popular in the Pacific Islands, NZ and australia.

everyone in my family calls me crazy for my favorite corned beef hash. I have just forwarded this video to them all as you have given me validation. Libby's has and always will be the best. Thank You!

i love canned corned beef. imo it is a very underrated food. i mean i get why people love Bacon, and i do as well, but i think corned beef deserves to be up there too.

Yes I grew up eating libbys corned beef on white bread with a good smear of mayo...cold or hot, it was great! I haven't eaten it in years but after watching this video I'm going out tomorrow and buy a dozen cans just to have it on hand in case I get the urge for a Libby corned beef sammich and wash it down with an ice cold pabst blue ribbon beer! (Probably at 3 a.m.)

I’ve never had canned corned beef but I just stacked up on a bunch of Hereford for an emergency. Glad to see I picked a good one

i'm happy that a philippine brand made it to your list but there are two other brands that are at par if not better than your choice and these are purefoods and delimonde.

Hellaby's corned beef (reduced fat) has been our favourite brand for over 50 years. We love slabs of it on buttered white bread (or toast) with Watties tomato sauce and slices of red onion, all washed down with a hot cup of Twinings English Breakfast tea....just delicious! Cheers from Aotearoa New Zealand.

I like corned beef. Tried most of them. Like them all. Its not a steak. Its canned corned beef. Always good with eggs and toast. Was fun to watch. Great video

I've never noticed much difference between brands here in the UK. These days they all seem to be from Brazil and are good quality. I much prefer them chilled rather than warmed up.

I'm sitting in Sydney right now, I live here. Never heard of Ox & Palm corned beef. When I was at sea on the ocean liners it was well known that Australian corned beef came way down the list of desirability. Having eaten corned beef for nigh on 80 years I can say that cold is best. Hot only with potatoes, never on its own.
Tinned corned beef is not salt junk, the sea term for corned beef, which is basically salt pumped (pickled) or just salted beef, which is better than tinned if one wants hot food. Though both tinned and salt junk are great cold.

Philippine dish, fry lots garlic chopped, then add 2 onions chopped. Finally when they have melted, add a can of cornbreef until it breaks down then add tomatoes chopped 3 to 4, cook until all breaks down to a nice chunky sauce, if gets too dry add water. put on top of rice and enjoy. I add hot sauce and a dash of maggi seasoning on top and mix

You mentioned Argentina corned beef which is a Filipino brand but it's not remotely the best corned beef in the Philippines. That distinction goes to Purefoods corned beef. Like other local corned beef brands in the Philippines, the consistency is not as mushy like in Libby's or Hereford. Here the consistency is more meaty like shredded pastrami and has a lot more juice. Purefoods has that and overall better flavor and meatiness. A close second is Delimondo. Argentina is considered of lower quality here, a more affordable, cheaper option.

Hereford is the best! Stick in the fridge before opening because that makes it easier to remove from the can and slice. I love it cold in a sandwich even if it's the only thing in the sandwich with mustard or Mayo depending on your taste.

Here in Britain, Fray Bentos seems to be the most popular brand..delicious cold from the fridge or hot corned beef hash..

I'm a Filipino, and considering Argentina as a good corned beef is mind-boggling. It's the worst corned beef I have ever tasted. It's too salty, too watery, and the actual texture of this brand is remotely far from what I would expect from a good corned beef.

Delimondo, Highlands Angus cornef beef of the Philippines, and Palm corned beef of New Zealand hands down.

My favorite brand of Corned Beef is Libby's, bar none. I enjoy it skillet-fried to a crisp, with some sauteed onions and minced garlic served on top of a bed of steamed white rice. This is what I call a Filipino man's idea of comfort food. Yummy! 😋🌽🍚🐄❤️
