Allow yourself to have feelings. Just don't let them control you.

I hate toxic positivity with a passion. Because more times than I can count I have been on the recieving end of hearing “have positive thoughts”, “be positive”, “be positive” as if I have a switch in my brain that I could feel positive all of a sudden.

Now that I think about it, if there are people out there who can just flip a switch and be positive, sounds like the marking of a psychopath to me.

allow yourself to feel your emotions. emotions are chemical messages. They inform you of how you are experiencing the world. and what it's doing to you. it's unrealistic to expect everyone to be happy 100% of the time. recognize your feelings and validate them and validate the feelings of others. empathy isn't what it's cracked up to be. people who empathize with others might avoid those in pain instead of alleviating another's pain. it hurts to have empathy in a world hurting and confused from Covid-19. we learn to love from losing those dear to us. i've learned enough about it. -j from my wife's YouTube with her permission of course.

Happiness is a moral obligation. Seek reasonable help when you feel sad or angry but who are the light in the world? Happy people. Who wants to live with an unhappy parent, child, or even coworker? Who makes a difference in the world? Happy people or unhappy people? In history who do think of when you think of happy? Nazis? No. Rioters? No. Victims? No. Those closest to you deserve happiness. It’s not selfish. It’s altruistic. It’s an honor to exude happiness when others can’t, lighting up the darkness. I choose to be happy. It’s a choice for everyone. Treat bad attitude the same as bad breathe…brush it away.

I don't really get the conversation though, are we not supposed to push ourselves towards positivity always?
Or just wallow in self guilt or the bad mood at the time?

Because a kid is a kid and she is an adult

This guy trying to equate a child’s emotions to an adults is ignorant and stupid—it’s called being an adult… that’s what separates us from children, we have the ability to process our emotions and move on… he is part of the problem with the weak fragile population always offended and butt hurt. Life throws us all curve balls—you have to sometimes put on a happy face and be positive find those silver linings and move on—because people depend on you and need you to show up even when you are hurt. Just because you don’t show you are hurt doesn’t mean you don’t allow your self to feel those emotions, it’s just means you have a brain and have the strength to deal with it at another time or accept the hurt and proceed with life.
