In this lesson, you will learn how to multiply numbers that are 2 and 3 digits by a 2 digit number. In order to this, we need to line up the numbers carefully so that the work is organized. We go column by column, starting at the right column, and working left multiply each number. When we finish the first line, we drop a zero in the ones place and continue the process. Finally, we add the numbers below to arrive at the final result.

Being a Dutchy, watching your video’s, I am sooo glad that the way I have been teached is also the way you teach. It’s so familiar and so useful to dust my knowledge off a bit.
My kids now days being teached way different. And while they explain how they have to calculate stuff, I get totally confused. Can’t understand why there has been a change in our school system.
Thanx for explaining the way I remember 😊

why are some numbers getting carried over to the next column, and others are not? some numbers that i think should be carried over end up being brought down to be added up. I dont understand. and at what point does a number get put into a certain place.

I know horizontal multiplication and never cared to place carries in place.
