I learned this in 4-5th grade so i'm pretty ashamed of myself. I forgot to add the 0 in the next line. You get a completely different number. Wow.

This was standard math. I was just wondering if he was suggesting any short cuts like the top number is easily 708 without calculating if you become familiar with duplicating, and the second line calculating you try to put the thought process in your head in terms of speed math with one digit multiplier. The whole point is to save time and use it for problems you have to think through in a test.
