Hey I am sponsored by Turso, an edge database. I think they are pretty neet. Give them a try for free and if you want you can get a decent amount off (the free tier is the best (better than planetscale or any other))

Number 4, you get to confuse people when you have relative line numbers on. I typed this in neovim, btw.

I can’t take him seriously without the headphones

I like the fact I haven’t watched Primetimeagen in a couple of months so when he pops up it’s always him talking about VIM. Like a sales person who won’t quit.

Best 500 hours I ever spent to save me 5 minutes of using the mouse

Number 4:
You get to code while reclining back on a chair with a keyboard on your lap and your feet on the desk. Because no mouse needed

Number 4: once you're in you can't leave anyways since you won't be able to quit

I use vscode and while i have been intrigued with the idea of learning vim, it just feels like there is always something more important to learn or do than learning how to use a new editor as different as vim is. I can see that once you learn it you can code more quickly, but im not sure how much time it would have to save me before breaking even on the investment of tackling that learning curve. Plus, I've already got my environment VS Code tuned up perfectly for myself after years of using it.

Number 4:

It is so buttery smooth when SSH-ing to servers esp when you gotta make the quick changes on the env/app configs

The real question is why wait until 2024?

I love to use Vim..
It ruined my way of thinking how I use the keyboard.. I always have to remove the excessive j's and k's that appear when the page doesn't scroll up and down in chats..
I also have to edit the ":w" or ":q" out of completed responses lol.

Wow he really wears that outside the house...
I'm talking about the mustache of course.

Only thing i would say is, when you are anything else than vim. Your probability of adding :w and :q across the texts randomly, would become higher

So… *I get to interrupt people mid-sentence & ask “Did you use NeoVim by the way?”*

NOW, I am definitely going to learn NeoVim….

I feel like I kinda half-way learned vim. It's definitely nice to have when you're connecting to a remote linux server to troubleshoot/configure something. Not quite to the point to where it makes sense to use it in day-to-day development.

He isn't balding.
There's a reason for that.

I shall say no more. You should be capable of making the _wise_ choice.

Nr 4. In an interview you get to say "I use VIM" and see the faces of the unimpressed people who are confused why you brought it up... Priceless! Had that happen when someone applied to us and said he writes code in Notepad... not Notepad++ just Notepad

Most important reason.. you're on a remote server and you actually want to get stuff done fast without looking like a noob

You can do all this in emacs and you have built in plugin manager.
