Hey I am sponsored by Turso, an edge database. I think they are pretty neet. Give them a try for free and if you want you can get a decent amount off (the free tier is the best (better than planetscale or any other))

To all the non-programmers in the comments section:
This video is comparing two encabulated hyperobject processors.

I only use vim because I opened it 15 years ago and never figured out how to get out.

I stumbled into this short out of nowhere. No idea wtf he's talking about.

However I'm intrigued.

How did I get here from Warhammer painting tutorials?

I choose:
- Dired (a full featured file manager)
- Magit ( what neogit dreams to become and fails to deliver. Fugitive is not bad though )
- Elisp ;)

As a long term Vim user who recently changed to Neovim, can´t agree more, loving every moment using it.

treesitter: everything about it is fantastic.
Few moments later.
It's Treeshitter Oh F...

He converted me. I was hesitant to move from VIM as I heard horror stories about setting up neovim, but it’s really not bad. Followed his setup vid and haven’t looked back.

To be fair, Treesitter can be so much of a pain with python indenting

The problem with neovim is that some extensions are so fucking heavy while vim you can run it whenever you wanted through ssh in a 32 bit old computer or in your old smartphone through termux.(I used both)

Update: Everything you could run with ssh but my point is that I used neovim in my 64 bit computer and 2 ram and is almost useless is better vim in that case...

VSCode does **not** have real Treesitter integration.
IIRC there is a extension that uses LSP to provide Treesitter, but even that is experimental.
Most of VSCode still relies on TextMate parsers.

when did treesitter become fast on big files

I chose vim over neovim because i have to work in a high security cluster and the choice was either vim or nano.

1) Treesitter is not fast on big files, vim regex is faster on huge files
2) how reliable TS works depends on the grammar writers, indents are still experimental
3) TS grammars exist which will crash your neovim or make it unresponsove by getting stuck in an infinite loop

Yeah, LSP support is a real killer feature.

I have done lua on multiple occasions and to me it still feels like this ancient arcane thing. But it's way better than vimscript 😂

People say "I am old school, I use vim, not these fades".
Well, for the longest time I used vi, because I didn't know that vim existed and was a different thing from vi.
I thought they were synonyms so all the guides, etc, I just assume that whatever wasn't working for me is because I was using it in the server and thus probably had like an old version of whatever.
Heck yeah, an old version.

I went from NeoVim to Helix and I haven't looked back. I was a vim/NeoVim user of 10+ years and it took less than a week for me to make sense of Helix instead. It just makes more sense. Plus it has multi-cursor, which is much simpler to wrap your mind around than macros.

Telescope really for me. I now want telescope everywhere. Could use some recommendation for auto completes though. On MacVim I had Willard or Walter or something like that.
