My brain is already slower than my fingers. If I were to get any faster it would just create an unnecessary bottleneck.

These vim shorts help me a lot to keep me from using it. Thanks mate.

The best user interfaces hide functionality behind esoteric keyboard commands that aren't obvious nor easily documented.

Remember that you can use 'd' with '/' and '?'. So if you wanted to delete to 'other' type this 'd/other' ( you could stop after writing 'ot'). This is useful because you can't use 'dto' or 'dfo' due to the 'o's in the word 'foo'.

I usually use dt<space> in cases like the example or dt<some char> to delete until that char sometimes even d<n>t<char> to delete until the nth time the char appears

Why are there so many vim haters in _this_ video, specifically? It's a short little tutorial, not a review (where you're expected to give opinions). That's like watching a tutorial on how to ride a bike and commenting "i HaTe BiKeS, cArS aRe BeTtEr!!1!1!!".

In 50 years I will probably still be learning cool new Vim stuff!

if surrounded by spaces, just di<space> will do. although, not sure if it's native or comes from a text object plugin

bonus: da<space> will leave just one space instead of two

Delete Inner Word and CIW (Change Inner Word) works too!

I think Vim has some sweet functionality, but the process of creating the muscle memory in order to be productive with it is just not worth it for most people. There will be a huge loss of productivity in the beginning, or some sacrifice of one's free time to learn it outside of work. More power to anyone using their preferred tool. Cheers!

Idk… is memorizing and recalling all that really any better than using a combo of Ctrl, Shift, Home, End, and arrow keys?

When I started using Vim, I didn't read the manual, so I opted for notepad ++ instead, I envy those who are good at using Vim, till this day. That was like 15 years ago.

This guy just sharing some practical knowledge and so many people are hating in the comments for no reason. Sad to see. Y'all are the ones being elitist, not this guy.

The ‘diw, ciw, and viw’ are staples for me, but holy poop I had no clue the capitalization would search between whitespace. That is actually incredibly useful.
