Some might say that vim is outdated. Here are 3 reasons why I'm still rocking Neovim in 2024 and beyond.

I've configured Neovim thanks to your course it was nice to follow and learn a bit about Lua, plugins, and all that kind of stuff, but even if I want to switch to Neovim with everything configured, I keep using my IDE and CLI.

Maybe someday I will switch completely to Nvim.

Great work!

In my terminal I have:
text editor (neovim),
notes (nvim-neorg),
spreadsheet (sc-im),
calculator (integrated 'cal' command),
and the terminal itself.
All in the same place. And don't forget Vimium extension for Chrome. Navigate at the speed of thought. Endless flow state. Not clumsy UI apps.
And it's very important to integrate a window tiling manager. For MacOS, Yabai is the best option. Cheers

The thing is... why would you ever exit vim anyway?

By default, NeoVim has mapped that button next to a power button to an exit function.

I have at least four vim sessions running for school in tmux. I tell people its so there easy to get back to but really I just never learned to close it.

Was curious about vi and thanks to playing with nvim a bit, now I have every shortcut available in VSCode in my muscle memory :)

also use sshfs to mount a remote server folder to your own computer so you can use your own vim's settings.

I would recommend using Helix honestly. I used vim, then neovim, and then helix and were talking about integrated LSP support if you have your LSPs installed. It just finds them in your path and runs them. It’s so much easier than dealing with a neovim config.

One part I’m struggling with is jumping back and forth from nvim and running tasks in the terminal. Right now I just keep 2 windows open and toggle between the 2 but I know there’s gotta be a better way. ❤ would love a video 😬

Don't you use amethist or yabai on macos?
it's like tmux for the rest of your desktop.

Is there a way to view images in neovim? That's the last thing I'm missing from vscode

I love vim, because of the flow state, too! And I love the "joke" at the end that you cannot exit vim... same 🥲
