Civ 6 and Humankind are two historical 4x strategy games I have over 1000+ hours in, and understand in great detail. Today I'm discussing Humankind vs Civilization 6 in 2022 - years after civ 6 initially released and following an incredibly successful post-release development of free patch updates, paid dlc like Gathering storm and the civ 6 new frontier pass, and more! Humankind, released to Steam and more in August 2021 has the power of modernity on its side, and offers a fame based approach in line with Amplitude Studio's previous work. Today I put civ 6 gameplay up against humankind gameplay to ask - what's better civ 6 or humankind? what's the best historical strategy game in 2022, Humankind vs Civ 6, and what are the key differences between civ 6 and humankind? In humankind I feel like I’m building a civilization. In civ 6 I feel like I am one nation and I role playing as one nation throughout time. In humankind I was playing the celts and was in a peaceful game but then my opponent took my outpost so I went Aztecs and it was so much fun I felt like my culture adapted to crisis instead of just being in one box.

I grew up playing the Civilization saga but tbh, when I saw the desing of CIV VI I decided not to purchase it. Since that time Ive been playing Stellaris as my main 4X game until Humankind was released. As Jumbo says (Jumbo, if you read this, Im in love with your voice), Humankind has potential and its a refreshing 4x game, however it gives us an unfinished feeling. As with other 4X games, its not a complete game until the studio decides to finish the project. Amplitude will probably add release more DLC focus on cultures, wonders and expansion packs. And tbh I cant wait !

I’m amused that you quote “managing every single apostle” as a plus, in favor of Civ 6. Personally, it’s exactly that kind of things that made me stop playing Civ6. Humankind avoids the religious micromanaging and I like it.

To be honest, I love Humankind, but it's kind of bizarre to think this is supposed to be a finished product. It's still chockfull of bugs and outright mistakes that break the immersion at every turn, like when I train a Saboteur and the commentator goes "Your first BOAT allows you to blablabla", or when I have a grievance against the Zulu for being at war with the Zulu, or the millions of times I seem to need to be reminded that I'm "at the end of an ideology axis" that I was already at the end of, or how for some reason gaining control of my home continent is "a permanent settlement on ANOTHER continent", or how having 10 farmer's quarters in 10 different cities warrants "with TEN farming quarters in ONE city, ...", or how a siege between two AIs or an AI and an independent people can last literally forever so you can never attack the city yourself, ...

I loved Civ6 until they basically ruined it for me with gathering storm which killed my favourite mods (and the support team ignored reports). And all the strange kooky modes (zombies etc) are just puff. HK has a long way to go and I'm enjoying it a lot so far.

I'm gonna say Civ, it's just WAY more pollished, and HK frankly shoots too far it's virtually impossible to play balance 7 era/ culture bonuses amongst all possible combinations, thus many people's complaints will never be answered. Is this a fair complaint? No. But it is a valid one and again, I doubt it will EVER be silenced.

Civ6 with its base form can not be even compared to humankind. It is only comparible with its all countless dlc and even then hk is at starting phase of its time. Honestly, i think old worlds beats both

Enormous difference between civilization 6 and Humankind. Two games from different leagues. Civilization 6 is a finished product enjoyable, fun & easy to play . On the other hand, Humankind unfortunately dull, extremely boring, and broken . That is why civilization 6 after more than 6 years still has wide base active players and still number one 4x strategy and in top 30 games on steam while Humankind lost most players within few weeks of released and does not even make it in the top 100 games on steams

I want to prove this genre, for someone rookie or new at this 4X's games, which game do you recommend to me CIV 6 or Humankind? Now both are on offer at Steam, but CIV6 Anthology is cheaper than Humankind, which one should I buy? I was thinking to buy n play CIV6 first n later to buy Humankind, or do you recommend me to buy first Humankind?

In HUmankind, it feels kind of wrong to change my civilization. In all the strategy games I know, I stay with the faction i chose first

The only turn based strategy game that got my attention was the Civilization 2 fantasy version which had above and below world maps and worked the Tolkien esque genre brilliantly well. But getting hold of it is is impossible...I don't get the point of going through historical events from a real history.

As a history nerd civ 6 is just not enjoyable, the whole ode to human history is completely gone, traded by silly cartoon graphics, leaders and jokes. I never understood what is the apeal of civ6, the ai cannot even fight back. It will forever be, in my opinion, top 10 worst games I haver ever played in my life.
