Really loved this overview of great modern sounds! And the shoutout to session guitar crew. Betting Brent Mason and Tom Bukovac are all over these tracks

Love the silver tele with the roasted neck! Is that custom?

Tele, in to a Fender amp, clean, but ready to break up. Deluxe Reverb, Super? Nice compressor pedal helping out just a little, a few great dirt boxes, Hotwired is my current fav. A little slap, some nice verb and or trem from the amp when possible, with a few extra pedals on tap, MXR Phaise 90 when you gotta bust out some Waylon. Throw a nice boost in to kick up your solos and you're great.

Great vid dude. The hard thing about modern country guitar is the guys making the records are unsung hired guns, and the tones are often dialed in quickly for pay-by-the-hour sessions and are long since forgotten (unless documented on a recall sheet somewhere). Because these guitarists don't get a lot of public spotlight, their tones and musical genius often flies by unnoticed under the pop-esque cliche lyrics and smooth sultry voices of the metro-dude "country" singers. Premier Guitar just did a rig rundown with Brother's Osborne--def check it out!

Btw, MY fav country guitar tone? Brad Paisley yo.

Definitely some single coils preferably a telecaster, a clean amp with some compression and delay. Amp doesn't necessarily have to be fender but that is classic choice, but as long as it's got some good clean headroom. I do like the Midland tone, definitely has that 90s country kind of vibe with a mixture of 60s/70s depending on the song. I guess I like that Brent Mason, Albert Lee, Danny gatton kind of vibe.

Great video man. Gonna put you on the spot tho.. I want to create a modern country tone. That of say Brad Paisley or Luke Bryan... I have an Ibanez Gio and a Line 6 Spider amp.. no pedals so what settings would you pick to get a more contemporary tone? Thanks for your time and have a great new year! 😉

Thanks for the info, very helpful! Wondering about the Aldean tone? Would that be similar to the Brothers Osborne?

Do any modern players dial in those old tones from the David Allen Coe and Waylon records with that phaser? It’s phaser I’m thinking of right, or flanger? 🤷‍♂️

Howdy, came here as a Helix user looking for a fat modern country tone. You had my attention mentioning Aldean, Gilbert, Combs, Bros Oz. Love to see a more in depth video for this dirty fatty country tone using les pauls or SG's for the meat and potato treble twangy slapback echo.

Know what you mean “not country at all “IMO this modern stuff shares more DNA with southern boogie, than Tammy Winett ie skynnerd, Blackfoot, black oak Arkansas…go comment ya all
