Most of us are familiar with the intermolecular forces - hydrogen bonding. Are you aware that there are different types of hydrogen bonding? In this video, we are going to look at the different types of hydrogen bonds with examples. Basically, there are two types of hydrogen bonds: intermolecular and intramolecular bonding. Intermolecular hydrogen bonding is the more commonly known hydrogen bonding, which is one of the strongest intermolecular forces. Intermolecular hydrogen bonding happens between molecules. Intramolecular hydrogen bonding is less discussed at the introductory chemistry level. Intramolecular hydrogen bonding is present within the molecule itself.

We will use examples to differentiate between intermolecular hydrogen bonding and intramolecular hydrogen bonding. We will look at 2 examples for the 2 types of hydrogen bonds.
